Long and Konst crack the winning code on second night of East-West Clash at Gillette, WY

GILLETTE, WY (August 30) - Austin Long and Brett Konst split the WISSOTA Dirt Track Series victories during the second night of the 25th annual East-West Clash at Gillette Thunder Speedway on Saturday.

Long led every lap of the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature, but had Troy Leiker breathing down his neck for much of the distance. Long was able to turn back all the challenges and scored the victory with Leiker second and Matt Heinzerling third. Scott Hansen ran as high as second, but settled for fourth, while 16th-starter Tony Leiker moved into the top five in the closing laps.

Konst started third and took the lead early in the WISSOTA Mod Four feature. Dustin Holtquist took the green flag in the fourth row, but moved to second a handful of laps into the contest. Following a late restart, Holtquist was glued to Konst for the closing laps, but Konst held on for the win. Dustin Holtquist, 11th-starter Clint Jensen, Robert Holtquist and Tristan Torres rounded out the top five.

Eddie Kirchoff scored a pair of wins, topping both the Late Models and IMCA Modifieds. Travis Landauer of Albion, NE scored one for the “East” in the IMCA Hobby Stocks, and Robert Donmyer remained at 100% for the weekend in his No. 2% Mini Bomber.
