Leiker and Holtquist continue to hold advantage over East-West Clash rivals at Gillette Thunder Speedway

GILLETTE, WY (August 31) - The 25th annual East-West Clash wrapped up at Gillette Thunder Speedway on Sunday night. Troy Leiker and Dustin Holtquist — winners on opening night — were also victorious on the third night of WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action.

Troy Leiker started sixth and picked his way forward in the first half of the 20-lap WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature. He stole the lead from Kyle Harkin around the midway point of the contest, and sped off to a 2.7-second victory. Harkin settled for second with Matt Heinzerling third, Travis Soper fourth and Joel Morris fifth.

Dustin Holtquist started on the pole for the 15-lap WISSOTA Mod Four feature, and quickly put distance on the rest of the field. Robert Holtquist moved to second early, but could not keep pace with his son and Dustin scored the win by more than 4 seconds ahead of his father. Clint Jensen finished third, Tristan Torres was fourth and Saturday’s winner Brett Konst was fifth.

Eddie Kirchoff doubled up on victories for the second night in a row, winning all three Late Model main events and the final two IMCA Modified features. Russ Dalgarn claimed an IMCA Hobby Stock victory for the “West,” and Robert Donmyer did not relinquish his stranglehold over the Mini Bomber competition with his third win of the weekend.
