Hibbing goes back to the grassroots on Saturday; winner list includes Blevins, Beaulieu, Smith & Penney

HIBBING, MN (August 1) - It was Grassroots Saturday at Hibbing Speedway August 1, as the track hosted WISSOTA Super Stocks, Midwest Mods, Pure Stocks and Hornets.

Winners in WISSOTA-sanctioned action included Michael Blevins, Sr., Josh Beaulieu, Jake Smith and Nathan Penney.

After a battle early with Austin Blom in the WISSOTA Super Stocks, Blevins gained the lead for good with a handful of laps to go and took his first-ever victory in the class ahead of sixth-starter Dalton Carlson. Ninth-starter Doug Koski was third, Andy LaBarge was fourth and Kevin Salin completed the top five.

In the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, Beaulieu completed a night that included starting dead last in the heat race after missing cutoff with an eventual trip to victory lane. He was chased to the checkered flag by Austin McClellan, Deven VanHouse, Sam Blevins and Mikey Blevins.

Smith and Austin Carlson kept it close for much of the WISSOTA Pure Stock feature, but this time Smith came out on top of the field. Carlson, Bob Klein and Dylan Elhardt were the remaining finishers.

Penney started from the front row in the WISSOTA Hornets, and grabbed the eventual victory ahead of Brady Fosso, Astion Schelde, Ryker Larson and Nick Ruzich in the top five.

Hunter Morris won in the track’s Crown Vic class.
