Vogel & Randt race to wins before rain ruins it for Thursday night fans at KRA Speedway

WILLMAR, MN (July 30) - In our short WISSOTA Dirt Track Series racing season, you never want a rain out. However, this summer has been so dry, having rain interrupt racing does have its benefits for farmers in the region.

Luckily, Mother Nature laid off a bit and KRA Speedway completed features in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods and Street Stocks, with the Modified, Super Stock and Mod Four features to be rescheduled in the future.

Winners in the WISSOTA-sanctioned classes during the shortened program included Justin Vogel and Landyn Randt. A nice field of 66 total cars was on hand.

The WISSOTA Street Stocks got things rolling, with Levi Randt in the lead early. Vogel and Ethan Iiams were in a good battle for second. With three laps in the books Vogel took over second, and then drove by Randt with six laps to go in a very hard fought battle.

Vogel drove on to the victory ahead of Randt, who was close behind in second. Joe Martin was a strong third, ahead of Brady Schultz and Iiams in the finishing top five.

The WISSOTA Midwest Mods came out next, led early by Jason Vejtruba, who was followed by an improving Chance Kodet. The car on the move was Landyn Randt, as he moved through the field from his eight starting spot. With six laps to go, Randt passed Kodet for second before a caution flew one lap later.

That was just what the doctor ordered for Randt, as he worked the high side to get by Vejtruba before dipping low for the pass and the win. Vejtruba finished second with Justin Bjorklund charging up to third ahead of Kodet and Jett Lindgren in the top five.

Ashton Martin was the winner in the Pure Stocks, while Dustin Karl took the victory in the HOT ROD Vintage class.
