Leiker, Ferguson and Holtquist get the upper hand as Border Wars get underway at Black Hills Speedway

RAPID CITY, SD (August 21) - The 8th annual South Dakota Lottery Half Mile Nationals and Border Wars Points Series got underway Thursday, August 21 at Black Hills Speedway.

WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners during the first night of the doubleheader included Troy Leiker, Leonard Ferguson and Dustin Holtquist.

Leiker started from the pole and controlled the duration of the feature in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, taking home the victory ahead of Tony Leiker, Darin Hauff, Scott Hansen and Paul Parks in the top five.

In the WISSOTA Mod Fours, Holtquist also started from the prime position and held control for the entirety of the race. He crossed the finish line less than a half-second ahead of Brett Konst, Robert Holtquist, Tristan Torres and 15th-starter Dean Larson in the top five.

Ferguson led all 15 laps in the WISSOTA Street Stocks Thursday night to garner his eighth win of the season at the speedway. He was chased to the checkered flag by Warren Pourier, Jr., Cole Phillips, Dillon Johnson and Kyle Hanson in the top five.

In the track’s other action, Adam Speckman scored the victory in the 360 Sprints, while Joel Magee was the winner in the Hobby Stock class. Eric Mass was victorious in the IMCA Modifieds.
