Chaschuk joins list of familiar winners Wednesday at Thunder City Speedway

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (August 5) - Colin Chaschuk, David Simpson, Cole Chernosky, Levi Randt and Jesse Owen opened August action at Thunder City Speedway with victories Wednesday night.

Chaschuk started outside of the second row, and used a beautiful move to split the gap between Tanner Henderson and Curtis Stieh to take the lead from the get-go in the WISSOTA Modified feature. Henderson stayed close in the opening laps, often drawing alongside the No. 621. Henderson was able to regain the lead with about six laps scored, as he worked the low line and Chaschuk used the rim. Chaschuk retook the top spot just before the halfway mark and cruised on for the hard-fought victory ahead of Henderson, Chernosky, Riley Matthews and 16th-starter David Simpson in the top five.

Simpson started fifth in the WISSOTA Midwest Mod feature and slowly made his way forward into the lead with about seven laps left. From there, he gained a 2-second advantage ahead of runner-up Michael Shalley at the checkered flag. Stieh, Tanner Ulakovic, and Jamie Davis rounded out the top five.

Chernosky led from start to finish in the WISSOTA Super Stock feature, with a near 3-second advantage at the finish line ahead of Simpson in second. Nathan Roy, Danny Young and Rick Simpson completed the top five.

Randt continued to collect feature victories in the WISSOTA Street Stocks Wednesday, as the Siren, Wisconsin native vies for the WISSOTA National Championship. He took the lead for good with about five laps in the books and drove on to victory lane ahead of A.J. Kellar, Darren Wolframe, Kyle Bolt and Nathan Henny in the top five.

Owen worked his way forward from eighth in the field at the start of the WISSOTA Hornet feature, using several cautions to his benefit and gaining the lead just past the halfway point. He was chased across the stripe by Selena Owen, Avery Chaschuk, Jimmy Owen and 10th-starter Christian Kast in the top five.

In the Junior Slingshots, Kruze King topped the field from the third starting spot.
