Mills and Matthews, Smith and Schwinn, Randt & Fosso are Sunday night winners as drivers from four states converge on Bemidji

BEMIDJI, MN (August 9) - Drivers from four states converged on Bemidji Speedway Sunday night for weekly races. Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin were all represented, with winners in WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action including Davey Mills, Carter Matthews, Levi Randt, Ashton Schwinn, Jake Smith, and Brady Fosso.

In celebration of Pepsi Nei Bottling “Kids Night,” activities ranged from a candy toss, water wars and backpack giveaways, to the always-enjoyable box car races on the front straightaway. Fun was had by all.

The WISSOTA Street Stocks were first on track, led to the green by Chris Dudley and Levi Randt. Randt powered to the lead ahead of Dudley and Layla Chapin in the top three. Randt blasted to a multi-car-length lead before a spin and caution slowed the race creating a restart.

The restart worked to Deryk Weleski’s advantage, as he raced low in turn four into third. Randt continued to build on his lead and took the checkered flag for his 20th victory of the season and a clean sweep. Dudley and Weleski completed the podium.

The WISSOTA Midwest Mods were next on track with Hunter Weeks and Carter Matthews leading the way in row one. After the initial lap, Matthews led Weeks and Cejay LaValley in the top three.

Jory Berg was on the move from his third-row starting spot and passed LaValley down the front straight. A multi-car spin sent several drivers to the pits for repairs; back under green, Matthews led out front followed by Berg, Weeks, Landon Gross and Josh Beaulieu. Weeks and Berg battled side by side for second.

The racing was fast and furious with Berg, Weeks and Beaulieu three wide fighting for second before Beaulieu gained the advantage. Another caution flag waved, and sent Berg to the rear of the field for the restart.

Matthews continued to be impressive as he took his second clean sweep of the 2026 season, ahead of Beaulieu and Gross in the top three.

Fourteen WISSOTA Pure Stocks roared on track with Josh Bitker on the pole and Jake Smith to his right. At the green flag, Smith took the lead with Bitker, Kade Leeper, Josh Berg and Austin Carlson in the top five. Leeper got around Bitker for second and began the duel with Smith for the lead. Several spins and crashes slowed the racing for restarts, but each time Smith was able to keep his lead. Late in the race, Carlson moved up into third and then passed Leeper for second with an outside line pass. Smith won the race with Carlson and Leeper in the top three.

The WISSOTA Hornets were next on track led by national point leader Brady Fosso, with William Lange to his right. Fosso powered to the lead, chased by Lange and Logan Delaney. Delaney had company quickly, as Adam Kessler and Bryce Mueller charged up to challenge him and relegated him to fifth. In a flag-to-flag race, Fosso picked up the win with Lange and Kessler in the top three.

In the WISSOTA Mod Fours, Ashton Schwinn and Dean Larson led the field to green. In a very fast start, Schwinn powered to the lead ahead of Larson and Shannon George. Larson drifted up high out of turn two and dropped to fourth. George and Conrad Schwinn moved up into second and third. A huge multi-car crash coming out of turn four slowed the racing and sent Conrad Schwinn to the pits along with others for repairs.

Once the cars were all back on track, Ashton Schwinn flew out to a huge half-lap lead ahead of the field. Fourth-row starter Dexyn Habraken raced into contention in third, behind George in second. The race was never in doubt as Ashton Schwinn claimed his sixth feature win at Bemidji. George and Habraken finished in second and third.

Davey Mills and Nic Lewis led the charge to start the WISSOTA Modified feature, with Mills gaining the advantage over the new Modified driver Lewis. Tony Konold charged ahead from his second row start, with Alan Olafson tight behind him. Konold then slowed on the track in turn four, bringing out the caution.

The restart was controlled by Mills with Olafson, Jeff Reed, Lewis and Adam Johnson in the top five. Mills held his line and his speed and took the feature win, his third of the summer. Olafson and Reed trailed in the top three.

In the closing laps of the Mini Stock feature, father and son Conrad and Cameron Schwinn raced side by side for the lead, with Cameron holding the slight advantage over Conrad. Nick McCann joined the battle to make it a three-car fight to the end. Cameron won the battle to claim his first win of the year ahead of Conrad and McCann in the top three.
