Uotinen dominates Mods while Savoy and Fencl fight off feature foes Friday at Gondik Law Speedway

SUPERIOR, WI(August 7) - Brady Uotinen of Superior was dominant in his WISSOTA Modified feature performance at the Gondik Law Speedway on Friday.

Other WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners on a comfortable early August evening included Ryan Savoy and Austin Fencl.

Uotinen came from the inside position of the third row, quickly made his way to the runner-up position in the 20-lap A-main, and took advantage of the race’s lone caution stop to drive by race-long leader Cole Boston and run away to an impressive margin of victory.

Polestarter Boston fended off strong early challenges from Brandon Copp and Jody Bellefeuille before setting a blistering initial pace. Uotinen swapped second place with Bellefeuille for a couple of laps before claiming the position on lap four, and then began to trim away at Boston’s 1.9-second advantage.

In a race fraught with attrition, Bellefeuille’s broken racer was the fourth of the nine starters to drop from the event on lap 10. But the ensuing restart was just what Uotinen needed, as he spent the next three green-flag laps measuring up Boston before using a strong low-groove pass coming out of turn four on lap 13 to take the lead.

From there Uotinen sped away to a cushion of better than 4.6 seconds for his first win at GLS since June 2025. Boston survived a late threat by Curtis Stieh to hold on to second, while Cole Chernosky and Cody Wolkowski completed the top five.

Savoy started from the pole and led every lap of the WISSOTA Midwest Modified 15-lap headliner. Savoy had to work early to keep fellow front-row starter Michael Shalley at bay, while behind them Jimmy Latvala and Joey Jensen debated third.

A lap after Jonny Nowak’s spin on lap four temporarily slowed the pace, Latvala battled briefly with Shalley for second, giving Savoy a chance to edge away. But on lap six Shalley took the position back, and Latvala fell back into a dogfight with Jensen and Paul Ripley until Carey LePage’s spin brought about the race’s only other slowdown on lap 11.

As Savoy pulled away from the pack over the final four-lap sprint to the checkers, Jensen slipped past Latvala for third and kept the pressure on Shalley. Savoy held a comfortable three-car length lead on Shalley at the final stripe for his second victory of the year here and the 19th of his career at Superior, with Jensen close behind in third. Latvala was a short distance back in fourth, while Jacob Anderson stole fifth with an inside pass of Ripley coming out of the final turn.

The WISSOTA Pure Stocks came out 20 entries strong for the first time in years at Gondik Law Speedway, and Fencl led every one of the race’s 15 laps for his third feature win of the season here.

Fencl started on the pole and bested national points championship contender Jake Smith over the first few laps, eventually building a half-second lead before a Dylan Helget spin brought the field back to him on lap four. A Tim Carlson-Aaron Bernick tangle on the restart delayed the proceedings momentarily, but the field put another three laps in the books, with Fencl running out to a full-second advantage over a battle between Smith and Tom Treviranus for second, before Anthony Ravina spun his car into the turn four infield on lap seven.

The caution-flag slowdown took its toll on several frontrunners, as Treviranus’ car had to be pushed to the pits, while fourth-running Eric Crosby was sent to the infield for the balance of the race with exhaust-system damage. But Fencl continued to set a strong pace, pulling away to a stout 1.6-second margin on Smith before Carlson and Bernick got into another small skirmish on lap 13.

In the green-white-checkered dash to the finish, Fencl rebuilt a half-second winning cushion, while visiting Caleb Duffie took second away from Smith just after the restart. Another visitor, Steve Karshbaum, swapped spots with Shane Basina after the re-do to grab fourth.

Following a last-minute change to the track’s scheduled classes for the night, not of the track’s doing, the Super Stocks were invited to run unsanctioned to complete the night as “Pro Stocks.” Alex Myers topped the nine-car field for his third win here in the past two seasons. Myers, too, started on the pole and went on to dominate the 15-lap feature, with his smooth pace interrupted only once by a yellow flag.

With only three more regular-season race nights remaining on the 2026 schedule before invitational season begins, Gondik Law Speedway will next host the penultimate round of the FastLane Motorsports Northland Super Stock Series on Friday, August 14.

WISSOTA Hornets will join the Supers, Modifieds, Midwest Mods and Pure Stocks for the program; WISSOTA Late Models will have the night off.
