Holtan, Berg, Gust & Smith sprint to victories at Greenbush Race Park on the Fourth of July

By Daniel Wiskow

GREENBUSH, MN (July 4) - Greenbush Race Park hosted a hot and exciting night of racing to go with the weekend’s long list of festivities that were scheduled.

WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Aaron Holtan, Mason Smith, Jory Berg and Jeremy Gust.

The WISSOTA Pure Stocks hit the track and were led to green by Keifer Kainz and Kade Leaper. Leaper led a majority of the race, but a few restarts shook up the lineup. On one of the restarts, Mason Smith was sent to the rear for jumping the start, but soon made up for the mistake and was back in contention. A couple of restarts later, Leeper looked to have his first win of 2026 in sight when his car pushed up the track with one lap to go and allowed Smith to slip by and claim the win. Smith was followed by Leeper, Chris Smeby, and Mason Scholin and Kainz in the top five.

The WISSOTA Street Stocks had a stout field of contenders once again. Jeremy Gust held the pole and Greg Jose was to his outside for the start of the race. Jose snagged the early lead and kept a comfortable advantage throughout the feature event. Gust made several attempts to get alongside Jose, but to no avail. Jon Halvorson was also within a car length of Gust as they tried to keep pace with the leader. When the checkered flag waved, Jose crossed the line first, as Gust, Deryk Weleski, and Josh Barker rounded out the top five. However, Jose forgot to scale, handing the win to Gust.

In the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Brody Kraft and Evan Gust led the field to green. There were several cautions in this race, shuffling the field. Kraft battled hard, though he eventually lost the lead to Justin Olson. Olson, who started sixth, looked like he was the car to beat when a restart shuffled the deck once again, and he found himself on the wrong side of it; Jory Berg took advantage using the low side of the track and stole the lead with roughly five laps to go. He hung on and took home the win. Kraft was second, followed by Olson, Alex Johnson, and Travis Klein in fifth.

The WISSOTA Modifieds had another stout field as well, led to green by Patrick Sobolik and Devyn Weleski. Weleski pulled away and looked to have the victory in hand, but soon Ryan Schroeder began to challenge for the lead. Schroeder worked hard for the top spot, but eventually both drivers caused cautions and went to the back of the field.

As the field went back to racing, Aaron Holtan took advantage of the restarts and used the low line to work his way forward. After starting ninth, he took the lead with roughly five laps to go and cruised to his second feature win of the year. He was followed by Connor Graff, Ryan Johnson, Jordan Duray, and Dustin Wahl in the top five.

In an exciting finish to the Lightning Sprint feature, Alan Truscinski took home the win, while a smoking Brooke McCann held on to take the win in the Four Cylinders.
