Koch, VandeKamp and Holtquist handle their rivals while Wagamon wins Mod War at Princeton Speedway

PRINCETON MN (July 17) - It was a balmy night at Princeton Speedway, as the United States Modified Touring Series stopped by the bullring to take on the WISSOTA Modifieds during the first night of Mod Wars. In a heart-felt win for the home team, Clayton Wagamon scored the victory against the crew of national touring drivers.

In sanctioned WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action, the Super Stocks, Midwest Mods and Mod Fours were also part of the program, with winners including Dexton Koch, Jason VandeKamp and Dustin Holtquist.

In the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Brady Larson and Ariel Mueller led the field to green. Larson, Mueller and VandeKamp were nearly three wide when the green waved and VandeKamp emerged with the lead. A caution reset the field, and VandeKamp sped away as the race resumed. Dustin Nelson took second.

There were several cautions during the final laps, but when the checkered flags flew, VandeKamp grabbed the win. Ryan Putnam, Nelson, Kris Macko and Mitch Weiss completed the top five.

Dustin Nelson and Dexton Koch led the WISSOTA Super Stocks to green for the next feature, and they battled as soon as the green dropped. Dylan Kromschroeder joined the battle and they were three wide as Koch moved forward with the lead. Shane Sabraski snuck his way into second while Nelson and Kromschroeder kept close to the No. 7a.

With the race half complete, a caution occurred and reset the field. Koch and Kromschroeder separated from the pack back under green, while others remained door-to-door for positions. Koch drove off to the eventual win ahead of Kromschroeder, Nelson, Sabraski and Chris Wark in the top five.

The WISSOTA Mod Fours were led to green by Chad Funt and Chad Erlandson on row one. With just two laps in the books, a caution was triggered; when the green reappeared, Ashton Schinn took advantage and shot his way into the lead. Dustin Holtquist followed in second, along with Tyler Larson in third. Holtquist worked the low groove and battled side by side in the turns with Schwinn, until Holtquist was able to edge out into the lead.

Drivers began to settle into positions and spaced out along the track until another caution was triggered. The Mod Fours experienced a handful of cautions in the final laps, and when the dust finally settled, Holtquist took the win. Schwinn, Robert Holtquist, Larson and Connor Bruss were top-five finishers.

Kendra Pickett held the lead in the final stages of the Micro Sprint race ahead of Marshall Willing and Owen Henrichs. As the race came to its thrilling conclusion during the final lap around the Princeton oval, fans were on their feet as Henrichs took the win. Pickett, Willing, Tyler Pelofske and Alyssa Eddy completed the top five.

A mix of 27 USMTS and WISSOTA Modifieds created the field for the 50-lap feature field. Clayton Wagamon remained strong out front for the duration, turning back the early-race efforts of Talan Willis and sticking to the high-groove, clinching his first-ever USMTS Modified feature win. Tenth-starter Brandon Davis, Rodney Sanders, Jake Timm and Kyle Brown filled out the top five.
