Penney earns the top dollars during Proctor Speedway’s Hornet Nationals

PROCTOR, MN (July 19) - Proctor Speedway hosted the Hornet Nationals, as well as Meet the Drivers night on Sunday. Nathan Penney scored the win in the headlining race, while Johnny Broking, Brandon Copp, Dylan Kromschroeder, Paul Ripley and Simon Wahlstrom also collected WISSOTA Dirt Track Series wins at the oval.

Penney was victorious in the 20-lap WISSOTA Hornet main event. He started on the inside of the second row on the way to victory. Nikota Larson climbed from eighth to second, while Kyle LeDoux rallied from 16th on the grid for the final podium position. Nick Ruzich and Astion Schelde rounded out the top five.

Broking captured the victory in the 20-lap WISSOTA Late Model main event. He started on the pole and led from flag to flag, with Kevin Burdick not far behind in second. Harry Hanson finished third ahead of Skeeter Ester and Danny Vang.

Copp also turned a pole-position redraw into a feature win in the WISSOTA Modifieds. Jody Bellefeuille gave chase for much of the distance, but could not track down Copp. Kennedy Swan, Nick Oreskovich and Curtis Stieh rounded out the top five.

Kromschroeder started on the front row of the WISSOTA Super Stock main event and led every lap for the victory, although Shawn McFadden applied plenty of heat throughout the race. Scott Lawrence finished third with Don Livingston fourth and Alex Morgan fifth.

Ripley started on the front row of the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature race, and darted off to the victory by nearly 3 seconds ahead of Eric Anderson, Adam Shinn, Michael Blevins, Sr., and Cade Johnson.

Wahlstrom charged to the front of the WISSOTA Pure Stock main event. He made his moves in the opening half, and then pulled away in the final half to win by nearly 3 seconds over Austin Fencl in second. Aaron Bernick was third ahead of Bob Klein and Tim Carlson.
