GRAND FORKS, ND (July 11) - River Cities Speedway hosted WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action once again Friday, July 11, with three familiar faces making their way to victory lane during Mid Season Championship night.
Dustin Strand narrowly escaped Grand Forks with the WISSOTA Late Model win, while Matt Schow and Cole Greseth were victorious in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods and Street Stocks, respectively.
Strand and Tyler Peterson made up the front row at the start of the WISSOTA Late Model feature. Though it's been the “Strand and TPO Show” all season at the speedway, Ryan Corbett was initially the second-place runner, as he remained within striking distance of Strand in the opening laps.
On lap five, Peterson regained second from Corbett, allowing Strand to open a 10-car length lead before a pair of cautions on lap seven. When the race resumed, Corbett again tried to take second back from Peterson, but Peterson held him off and began the reel in Strand at the midway point.
Peterson closed quickly as Strand had to make strong moves through lapped traffic. With three laps to go, there was lapped traffic in each lane. With two to go, Strand used the high side into turn one, leaving the bottom open for Peterson to slide by into the lead in turn two. Strand returned the favor in turn four as the field took the white flag, and with a lapped car in both the low lane and high side, Strand moved to the middle through turn four to hold off Peterson by a slight .118-second advantage. Edginton, Brad Seng, and John Seng were top-five finishers.

Austin Hunter and Matt Schow brought the WISSOTA Midwest Mod featured to green. The pair remained side by side for the entirety of the opening lap, with Schow nosing ahead to lead the first circuit.
Hunter led lap two as the pair remained door to door with Hunter on the inside and Schow on the outside. Schow led at lap three, and was finally able to break free of Hunter and build his first substantial advantage of the race.
Following a pair of cautions on lap eight, Schow continued to lead over Hunter and Frank Veert. Veert and Jory Berg swapped the third spot on each end of the cautions, but Berg fell back in the closing laps.
Schow went on to his fourth victory of the year ahead of Hunter, Veert, Ryan Schow, and MaKenna Romuld.
Cole Greseth (Steven Young Photo)
Greseth and Greg Jose led the 20-lap WISSOTA Street Stock feature to green. Greseth led the opening circuit over Jose, though the pair remained within a car length in the first five laps. Seth Klostreich battled Weston Ramsrud for third before the midway point as Greseth continued to lead.
Greseth’s lead was still only five car lengths before the only caution of the race with seven to go. On the restart, Ramsrud took second from Jose, which allowed Greseth to pull away in the closing laps. Greseth won his fifth of the year at the speedway ahead of Jose, Klostreich, Ramsrud, and Halvorson.
In the track’s other classes, Monty Ferriera won in the IMCA Sprint class, while Jade Hastings topped the 410 Sprints.
