Peterlin, Copp, Fosso & Ripley rocket to Sunday night feature wins at Proctor Speedway

PROCTOR, MN (June 28) - Kyle Peterlin, Brandon Copp, Paul Ripley and Brady Fosso ended their weekends with WISSOTA Dirt Track Series wins Sunday night at Proctor Speedway, as the track hosted its annual Hall of Fame night June 28.

In the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, Sam Blevins and Adam Shinn brought the field to the green; a caution before the first lap could be completed regrouped the field for a full restart.

Back under green, Paul Ripley, Shinn and Blevins made it three wide for the lead, as Ripley shook out into the top spot the following lap. Blake Adams slipped into second, and Shinn and Blevins fought side by side for third.

A caution for another spun racer brought out the yellow with five laps in the books.

Ripley shot back out to the advantage under green, with Adams in second. Sam Blevins was third, Shinn was fourth and Mikey Blevins in fifth.

As the laps wound down, Ripley’s lead grew to more than 2 seconds. He made his way to victory lane ahead of Adams, Sam Blevins, Shinn and Mikey Blevins in the top five.

The WISSOTA Late Models were next on track, led to green by Robbie Cooper and Kyle Peterlin. Peterlin raced out to the early lead, ahead of Harry Hanson, who scooted past Cooper for second. Kevin Carlson was fourth, while Donnie Lofdahl held fifth.

A caution for a spun Cory Jorgensen regrouped the field.

Peterlin had an immediate advantage at the drop of the green, with Carlson and Hanson fighting back and forth for second just ahead of a side-by-side battle between Vang and Darrell Nelson. Vang drove by Nelson for third, with Kevin Burdick putting Nelson back another spot. Out front, Hanson secured second for himself.

With a couple more laps in the books, the three-way battle for third continued; Burdick used the outside lane to drive into third, and Nelson got by Carlson to fourth.

One lap later Burdick continued his charge to the front, driving by Hanson along the top side to second.

Peterlin’s lead was insurmountable in the closing laps, however, and he grabbed the victory. Burdick was second ahead of Vang, Nelson and Hanson in the top five.

Brandon Copp (Tom Krob Photo)

Copp topped the WISSOTA Modified feature from his front-row starting spot. Copp led lap one ahead of fellow front-row starter Blake Adams in second, and Jody Bellefeuille in third. Bellefeuille drove by Adams into second a few laps later, with Nelson holding fourth.

Copp’s lead was about 1 second at the halfway point ahead of Bellefeuille, while Nelson drove by Adams to third.

Bellefeuille closed in the last few laps, but Copp was unstoppable; he took the victory ahead of Bellefeuille, Nelson, Adams and Nick Oreskovich in the top five.

Brady Fosso (Tom Krob Photo)

In the WISSOTA Hornets, Fosso and Nick Ruzich continued their season-long battles at the front of the field, racing side by side and nose to tail for the top spot for much of the early portion of the race. Fosso eventually pulled away and took the victory ahead of Ruzich, Kyle LeDoux, McKenna Folstad and Nathan Penney in the top five.

In the NVSC Modified feature, Josh Schiffler was victorious, while Kirt Stillson won in the Full Body class.
