Broksieck scores Street Stock win and Casino Speedway fans enjoy rare Sprint Car visit to the quarter mile

By Tony Steuck

WATERTOWN, SD (June 28) - Maria Broksieck led every lap to top her first Street Stock main event of the season at Casino Speedway on Sunday night. The six-time and defending track champion topped WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action, while Jack Dover and Tony Croninger split wins as well at the quarter-mile oval.

Broksieck started outside of the front row in the 20-lap WISSOTA Street Stock main event and bolted out to a big lead in the opening laps. Cory Geissinger held second early with pressure from Jayden Bogh, before Bogh made an inside move to steal second on lap three. Andy Rossow worked to the outside of Giessinger for third, all the while Broksieck had opened a 2.5 second lead.

Bogh chipped away slowly at Broksieck’s advantage through the midpoint of the race. Rossow ran in third with pressure from both Joe Arndt and Jason Marko.

Bogh cut a second off Broksieck’s lead, but Maria navigated smoothly past a lapped car with three laps to go, and stretched her advantage in the closing laps and to the checkers. Bogh finished second ahead of Rossow, Marko and Arndt.

Dover led all the way in the 25-lap MSTS and NOSA co-sanctioned 410 Sprint Car main event. Danny Sams III sliced from 14th at the start to second in the late going, but could not steal the lead from Dover in a final two-lap dash. Jade Hastings was third ahead of Mark Dobmeier and Sam Henderson.

Croninger led every lap of the Gen X Late Model main event, but had constant pressure from Trevor Walsh, Blake Swenson and Curt Kranz in a four-car battle for the lead. Lapped traffic became a factor in the late stages, and Croninger found the smoothest way through to scoot away for the win. Swenson finished second with Kranz third, Tyler McFarland fourth and Ryan Nelson fifth.
