Blevins bags a grand of Midwest Mod money at Grand Rapids while Sabraski scores two times, Carlson posts Pure win and Fosso fends off Hornets
GRAND RAPIDS, MN (June 19) - The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were the focus of Thursday’s program at Grand Rapids Speedway, with $1,000 on the line to the winner. Michael Blevins took the stack of cash back to Hibbing, while the other WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Shane Sabraski, Austin Carlson and Brady Fosso.
In the headlining WISSOTA Midwest Mod feature, Blevins was the early leader. Mervin Castle III was second, followed closely by Paul Ripley. The front three put on a heck of a show in the early going, with Blevins holding the slight lead over Castle in the first five laps. A couple of laps later Ripley went to the top lane and drove by Castle for second, and moved to the outside of Blevins in a challenge for the top spot. Ripley could not quite make it work consistently enough to gain the advantage and soon slipped back into third.
Blevins began to work through lapped traffic, with Castle in second. Mikey Blevins moved into third, and Blake Adams raced into fourth.
Out front Michael Blevins extended his lead in the remaining laps and drove off to the big victory, with Castle second. In the official rundown of the remaining top five, Adams was third, Ripley was fourth and Lawler was fifth.

After a yellow to start the WISSOTA Super Stock feature, Tristan LaBarge was the early leader followed closely by Sabraski. The field made about one lap and another caution halted the action.
Back under green, LaBarge continued to lead the field around the pine tree-flanked speedway. Sabraski began to search the track for a way by, drawing closer in the turns and making up ground as the field continued to tick off green flag laps. Austin Blom was third.
Out front, Sabraski drove to the inside of LaBarge, drifted up to the high line in turn one and took the lead just before the halfway point of the race. From there he carefully navigated lapped traffic and set sail to the checkered flag. LaBarge, Blom, Dalton Carlson and 11th-starter Jordan Henkemeyer were top-five finishers.

In the WISSOTA Pure Stocks, Jake Smith and Michael Hawkins led the field to the green flag, with Smith moving out front early on. Austin Carlson moved into second, Hawkins slipped back to third, and Dustin Puffe was fourth. A caution in the back of the field brought the group back together.
After the restart, Smith continued to hold the lead ahead of Carlson, while Puffe moved by Hawkins to third. Kade Leeper and Alex Berg fought for fifth.
A late-race caution gave Carlson the shot he hoped for; back under green Carlson moved to the inside of Smith and drove by for the spot as they came to the start/finish line with two to go. Carlson hung on through the final two laps to take the victory by about half a car length ahead of Smith. Puffe, Leeper and ninth-starter Bob Klein finished in the top five.
Shane Sabraski (Jennifer Tomczyk Photo)
Tyler Kintner and Sabraski led the field of WISSOTA Modifieds to the green flag, with Sabraski the early leader ahead of Kintner, a charging Kaden Blaeser, Blake Adams and Josh Beaulieu in the top five. Kintner was displaced by Blaeser for second before the caution fell for the first time over the field for Ryan Jensen.
Back under green, Sabraski retained the lead ahead of Blaeser, while Adams slipped by Kintner for third along the high line. Bob Broking was fifth, under pressure from Beaulieu.
Out front Blaeser continued to search for a way around Sabraski, drawing to his bumper in the turns. Blaeser used a slider into turn one, but Sabraski crossed him back over and moved out to a larger advantage. Adams hung in third, ahead of Beaulieu. As Sabraski moved his way through the backmarkers, Blaeser was able to cut into his advantage. Sabraski moved to the inside and made heavy contact with a lapped car in the low lane, but maintained the top spot; with five to go Blaeser was also trying to get by a lapped car, with Adams now closing in for the runner-up spot.
During the final lap Blaeser had pulled back to Sabraski’s bumper down the backstretch, but did not have enough and Sabraski scored his second win of the program. Adams, Beaulieu and Broking were top-five finishers.
Brady Fosso (Jennifer Tomczyk Photo)
After an initial yellow on the start, Brady Fosso led the WISSOTA Hornets to the green flag, with Tristen McLynn taking second early on. McLynn moved to the outside with about 10 to go, making a play for the lead and getting it at the flagstand. Fosso made contact with McLynn entering into turn four, but McLynn recovered to return to the lead out front. A wreck on the ensuing lap brought the yellow out.
The class was given a green-white-checkered finish after the yellow, and Fosso used the inside lane to push McLynn up the track and out of the lane to gain the advantage, and win at the checkered flag. Easton Pfeifer, Russell Kiker, Jr., and McKenna Folstad were top-five finishers.
In the Northern Renegade feature, Chris Lewis was victorious in the Sprint class, with Zach Olson and Ken Hron holding down the other podium spots.
