On Ryan Newman night, Peterson, Gerdes, Reinke and Goulet get to victory lane at I-94 Speedway

FERGUS FALLS, MN (June 20) - On a hot summer night with the threat of rain storms in the area once again, racers put together a very quick 2.5 hour show. It was also a special night, as NASCAR star Ryan Newman made an appearance. He signed autographs, took lots of pictures with the fans, and drove a WISSOTA Late Model as well in action later in the program.

WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Tyler Peterson, Hunter Goulet, Brady Gerdes, and Nate Reinke.

Zach Johnson was the early leader in the WISSOTA Late Model feature, launching himself to a healthy advantage before he tangled with a lapped car late in the race. Both cars left the track, handing the lead to Tyler Peterson. He took charge and grabbed the victory ahead of Josh Zimpel, who improved seven spots to second at the finish. Danny Vang edged Newman in a great battle for third, while Cole Schill rounded out the top five.

It was a smaller field of WISSOTA Modifieds, but as usual it was full of talent. Brady Gerdes edged Dusty Bitzan for the lead, as the battle for second was a dandy among Bryce Sward, Bitzan and Travis Saurer; they all went at it hard.

Late in the race Gerdes was strong out front, as visitor and UMP Modified racer Will Krup came charging into the mix, moving into second with fantastic driving. Gerdes grabbed the win, however, with Krup settling for second ahead of Sward, Bitzan, and Atkinson in the top five.

A nice field of 19 WISSOTA Midwest Mods hit the track, with Taylor Bitzan edging his younger brother Tyler for the lead. Following a lap eight yellow, Nate Reinke got by Tyler Bitzan for second, and then two laps later drove by Taylor Bitzan for the lead. He hung on over the remaining laps for the win. Taylor Bitzan finished second, just ahead of Haley Dykhoff, a very fast Scott Oeltjen, and Tanner Bitzan in the top five.

In the WISSOTA Hornet feature, Brady Albertson led all 12 laps except the last 3 feet: Hunter Goulet stunned him and everyone in the stands, passing him by inches for the win. Sixth-starter Christian Kast improved three spots to third, Chase Pourrier was fourth, and Eli Green was fifth.

The Gen X Late Model feature was won by Alex Tschakert. It was his first win after a strong performance outdueling Rick Schroeder for the victory.
