Doar, Uotinen, Henkemeyer, VanHouse, Crosby and Gotelaere grab the checkers at Gondik Law Speedway

SUPERIOR, WI (June 20) - Gondik Law Speedway put cars on the race track for a full night of competition on Friday, after a several-week delay due to weather.

WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Pat Doar, Jordan Henkemeyer, Brady Uotinen, Deven VanHouse, Eric Crosby and Carson Gotelaere.

Doar, the track’s all-time leading WISSOTA Late Model feature winner, added to his historic total with his 58th career win in the division. Doar, who started inside on the third row, took advantage of a caution-flag stoppage before mid-race, then maintained his advantage for the landmark win.

Outside front-row starter Rick Niemi ran away from polesitter Tim McMann and a close-knit pack of cars to a lead of nearly 2.5 seconds by lap seven. Doar moved past Shane Sabraski for third on lap four and then eliminated the distance up to McMann by lap seven, challenging him until Anthony Woodhull’s spin on lap nine slowed the pace and erased Niemi’s big lead.

Doar opted to start outside on row two at the “choose cone,” and within a lap he flew past Niemi for the lead, while behind them Sabraski, McMann and Skeeter Estey duked it out for third. Doar’s lead was over a 1.5 seconds when Ronnie Malecki spun on lap 16, and he rebuilt most of that advantage with the white flag in the air, but the yellow flew again, this time for debris. Doar held on over the one-lap dash to the finish for a winning margin of just under half a second.

Dave Flynn took advantage of the caution slowdowns and the “choose cone” to finish second, just ahead of Kevin Burdick. Niemi and McMann completed the top five.

Brady Uotinen (Tom Krob Photo)

Superior’s Brady Uotinen led every lap of the nonstop 20-lap WISSOTA Modified feature, outrunning a hard-charging Jody Bellefeuille for the win.

Uotinen started from outside row one and within three laps had a .75-second cushion on polesitter Brandon Copp, with Cody Carlson in close pursuit. After another five laps Copp shook off Carlson, who fell into a fierce battle with Sabraski for third, and those two were joined by Bellefeuille just past the mid-race point.

Bellefeuille got around Carlson for third on lap 12, and then began to battle with Copp for second with just three laps left. As Bellefeuille took over second coming for the white flag, Uotinen’s car seemed to slow significantly, allowing Bellefeuille to close the gap to the leader over that final lap. Uotinen had enough of a margin to still beat Bellefeuille to the checkers by .78 seconds, while Copp outran Sabraski and Justin Weinberger for third.

Jordan Henkemeyer (Tom Krob Photo)

In the WISSOTA Super Stocks, Henkemeyer started from the pole and beat Matt Deragon through the first pair of turns for the lead. By lap six, Henkemeyer was nearly 2 seconds up on the dogfight for second between Deragon and visiting Tristan LaBarge, which LaBarge won on lap eight.

Henkemeyer’s lead was nearly three full seconds when Danny Doran looped his ride into the infield grass off turn four on lap 12. Deragon edged ahead of LaBarge on the restart, but LaBarge earned the runner-up spot a lap later, just before Jakob Bond’s spin stopped the race again.

Over the final half-dozen laps no one had anything for Henkemeyer, who rebuilt a 1-second lead at the final stripe. LaBarge and Deragon swapped second on nearly every lap to the finish before Deragon claimed the spot for good on the white-flag lap, while Andy Grymala and D.J. Keeler worked hard for fourth- and fifth-place honors.

The biggest runaway win of the night came during the 20-lap WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature, with Deven VanHouse of Silver Bay, MN, walking away to a final margin of more than 4 seconds for the former track champ’s first feature win in the division here since August 2023.

VanHouse beat polesitter Ryan Savoy out of the first turns to take the early lead. As he worked to keep a determined Savoy at bay throughout the nonstop run, something broke in the right-rear of Savoy’s car just past the halfway point of the race. Savoy had to hang onto the ill-handling car while he was ganged up on by as many as five other fast Mid Mods over the final six laps. Savoy survived for the hard-earned runner-up honors just ahead of David Simpson, Paul Ripley and Tyler Vernon in the top five.

Eric Crosby took full advantage of a first-lap restart and held on to win a wild WISSOTA Pure Stock feature. Crosby started inside on row three and was shuffled back on the initial start of the 12-lapper, but after polesitter Trevor Treviranus was spun around before the first lap was completed, Crosby made his second chance count.

Shane Basina edged ahead after the restart but could not establish the lead, yielding the point to Crosby during a four-wide pass at the end of lap two. The front five cars ran nose-to-tail for a lap before Dylan Helget’s spin on lap four collected Ryan LaBorde to bring about the last of the race’s yellow flags.

Crosby eased out to a slight advantage on the restart, but fourth-starter Tom Treviranus slipped past Basina and Aaron Bernick a lap later and put relentless pressure on the leader for the remaining six laps. Treviranus pulled alongside Crosby coming out of turn four to take the white flag and again coming to the checkers, but Crosby had enough momentum to hold on for the win.

Basina stayed just ahead of Bernick and Derek Ament to finish third.

In the WISSOTA Hornet finale, Carson Gotelaere cruised to the feature win. Gotelaere, who started third on the five-car field, avoided polesitter Nathan Penney’s stalled racer at the drop of the green and slipped into the lead, where he stayed the rest of the way.

Madisyn Olson kept pace with Gotelaere, albeit a few car lengths back, for her best career finish at GLS in second, and Nathan Bird secured third with a pass of Abby Baum just before mid-race. Penney recovered from the first-lap miscue to catch and pass Baum with two laps left to claim fourth.
