Adams and Rossow repel WISSOTA rivals while Mullens tops traveling Mods in USMTS action at Casino Speedway

By Tony Steuck

WATERTOWN, SD (June 17) - Blake Adams checked winning at Casino Speedway off of his to-do list on Tuesday night. The well-traveled Wisconsin racer continued his tour of the region with another victory in the Midwest Modified division. Andy Rossow snagged the Street Stock victory in other WISSOTA action, while Tanner Mullens topped a thrilling USMTS feature.

Adams led every lap of the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature from the pole position. He took off when the green flag dropped, while Tim Kanten settled comfortably into second in the early laps. Luke Johnson ran third, but was under heavy pressure from Tommy Nichols throughout the opening half of the race; Nichols finally made the pass out of turn two on lap nine. The only caution in the race waved with five laps remaining.

Adams was unchallenged after the restart and raced to the feature win. Kanten remained solidly in second with Nichols third, Johnson fourth and Jake Wranek fifth.

Rossow wrestled the lead from Jayden Bogh on the opening lap of the WISSOTA Street Stock main event. Bogh settled into second while Trey Hess and Jason Marko ran door to door for third.

After a pair of cautions on laps seven and eight, Maria Broksieck cracked the top five. She used the high groove to snag fourth from Hess on lap 10, but Hess regained the spot a few laps later and the two remained engaged in a battle through the final laps.

Marko pressured Bogh to the inside for second, and the pair was on the rear deck of Rossow with just over five laps remaining. Bogh worked the middle groove, and with less than five laps to go drove to the door of the leader, but Rossow edged away just slightly in the final laps for his second-straight win at the speedway. Bogh held off Marko in the race to the checkers, and Broksieck outdueled Hess for fourth.

Tanner Mullens stole the USMTS feature win with a last-turn pass on Reece Solander. Mullens led the opening 22 laps before Solander gained the position. Mullens then found speed on the high side for the last-lap rally. Solander, Rodney Sanders, Travis Saurer — who started 12th and ran as high as third with a stirring march on the cushion — and Jim Chisholm rounded out the top five.
