Grand Rapids go-getters fall in line behind Peterlin, Sabraski, Adams, Carlson & Fosso
GRAND RAPIDS, MN (June 18) - Shane Sabraski backed up his WISSOTA Super Stock victory with another win Thursday night at Grand Rapids, making his way to the winner’s circle in the WISSOTA Modifieds as well. His double-win evening highlighted the WISSOTA Dirt Track Series racing program June 18 at the northern Minnesota speedplant.
Other winners in sanctioned action included Blake Adams, Kyle Peterlin, Austin Carlson and Brady Fosso.
Darrin Lawler was the early leader of the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature through the first caution period with just one lap completed. Adams took the lead on the following restart, and he led the field for the duration from there on out. Adams topped the field ahead of Lawler, Josh Beaulieu, Scott Thompson and Mikey Blevins in the top five.
Kyle Peterlin (Jennifer Tomczyk Photo)
Beaulieu led the field of WISSOTA Late Models in the early going, with Kevin Carlson and Derek Vesel behind him in the top three. One lap later, Peterlin was making ground up on the top of the track, and drove by Vesel for third, as Carlson passed Beaulieu out front for the lead. Peterlin then passed Beaulieu for second.
As the laps clicked by, Peterlin began to gain on Carlson. He was right to his back bumper before a major wreck on the backstretch regrouped the field under yellow. All cars left the incident under their own power.
Back under green, Peterlin dove under Carlson for the lead in turn one, before two cautions back to back kept the field at a standstill. Peterlin moved away from a side-by-side battle for second between Vesel and Kevin Burdick, with Vesel gaining the advantage before the checkered flag. Out front, Peterlin cruised to the win ahead of Vesel, Burdick, Shane Sabraski and Carlson in the top five.
Dylan Nelson was the leader by a small margin to begin the WISSOTA Super Stock feature, with Sabraski right on his trunk lid. Dalton Carlson was third, and Steve Stuart and Tyler Kintner were also in the mix.
The show was at the front of the field, as Nelson continued to hold off Sabraski, who was trying various lines to get by the No. 25. Sabraski took advantage of Nelson’s bobble out of turn two, grabbing the lead.
Sabraski continued to grow his advantage over the field, while Nelson was a comfortable second ahead of a hornet’s nest for third among Carlson, Kintner and Stuart. Just past the halfway point, Carlson and Kintner continued to fight hard back and forth for third, with Stuart fifth.
As the laps wound down, Nelson was back in contention, right to the inside of Sabraski’s quarter panel as they began to work through lapped traffic. Sabraski hung on and took the victory by .406 of a second ahead of Nelson, while Kintner, Carlson and Stuart completed the top five.

Sabraski was the early leader from the front row in the WISSOTA Modifieds. Will Krup advanced to second ahead of Devyn Weleski, while Bob Broking and Blake Adams held top-five spots.
The lead was never in doubt as Sabraski scored his second victory of the night by half a lap. Krup, Weleski, Broking and Adams rounded out the top five.
Austin Carlson (Jennifer Tomczyk Photo)
Bob Klein took the lead to start the WISSOTA Pure Stock feature, with heavy pressure from Austin Carlson. Behind them, Jake Smith and Mason Smith were on their bumpers, side by side for third.
The lead duo continued their war for the lead, before a spin by Mason Smith regrouped the field. Carlson took the lead back under green, with Klein, Jake Smith and Berg three wide for second; Smith secured the spot, while Berg and Klein remained side by side for third just behind them with three laps to go.
Smith tried every which way to get by Carlson, but did not have quite enough, coming up just short by just .175 of a second to finish with runner-up honors behind Carlson. Klein, Elhardt, and Mason Smith were top-five finishers.
Brady Fosso (Jennifer Tomczyk Photo)
Fosso was the leader from the get-go in the WISSOTA Hornets. After the field had trouble putting green flag laps together in the beginning, Fosso - followed by Nick Ruzich and Tucker Smith - moved away from the rest of the field fighting for the remaining top-five spots.
Fosso came under heavy pressure from Ruzich, with Ruzich pulling alongside underneath Fosso down the backstretch. Ruzich could get a run down the backstretch, but Fosso’s outside line was slightly faster.
Ruzich did not have enough on the final lap as Fosso hung on for the victory. Smith, Ryker Larson and Mikayla LaBarge completed the top five.
