Thunder City fans see Chernosky churn out two wins while Tocheri, Makkinga and Chaschuk also score
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (May 27) - Cole Chernosky conquered the WISSOTA Modifieds and Super Stocks Wednesday night to highlight action at Thunder City Speedway May 27.
Dan Tocheri was also victorious in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, while Brendan Makkinga topped the WISSOTA Street Stock action. Avery Chaschuk took home the victory in the WISSOTA Hornets.
Chernosky started way back in the fourth row for the Modified feature, and drove into third with five laps complete. Three laps later, he drove by Riley Matthews for second and immediately cut into leader David Simpson’s advantage. With nine laps completed he made the pass stick and he drove off to the victory. Matthews drove by Simpson for second before the checkered flag, while Scott McKinnon and Colin Chaschuk completed the top five.
Chernosky started a little farther up in the field in the Super Stocks, working his way forward from sixth to fourth in the early stages of the race, and holding second from lap four to lap 19 in the 20-lapper. He then broke away from Danny Young and Nathan Roy for the win, with just a .237 advantage at the checkered flag ahead of Roy. Young was third, Rick Simpson was fourth, and 10th-starter Shawn Polonoski rounded out the top five.
