Mahder, Blaeser, Redetzke, Stai and Tourville topple feature fields Friday at Red Cedar

MENOMONIE, WI (May 29) - Military Night at Red Cedar Speedway Friday, May 29 paid tribute to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms.

On track, Chad Mahder, Jake Stai, Kaden Blaeser, Jesse Redetzke, and Keith Tourville gave 100 percent effort for the fans in the stands en route to WISSOTA Dirt Track Series victory lane.

In the WISSOTA Street Stocks, Layla Chaplin was the early leader of a three-car tussle for first. Parker Anderson, Tourville, and Sam Fankhauser settled into the top four spots behind Chaplin early on. With a few laps complete, Tourville used the outside line to get by Anderson and then Chaplin to take the lead. One lap later Anderson took over second from Chaplin.

Tourville continued to tour Red Cedar Speedway followed closely by Anderson, looking for a way by, while Chaplin continued to hold off Fankhauser’s efforts in third. Tourville began to break away from Anderson in the closing laps and drove to the victory. Anderson, Chaplin, Fankhauser and Cole Richards completed the top five.

Jake Stai (Chris Burback Photo)

Stai was the early leader of the WISSOTA Midwest Mod feature, as Jason Vokovan felt the heat from first Brady Larson, who took second, and Derek Haas. As Vokovan slipped back through the top five, Blake Adams supplanted Haas for third and set off after Larson in second, while Stai added to his lead out front.

The race cars evened out along the speedway, with Larson cutting into Stai’s lead ever so slightly before a Stai bobble just before the halfway point allowed him to close quickly. Larson looked to the inside of Stai and pulled even with him before Larson started to lose it in turn three. He quickly regrouped, but this allowed Stai to escape and Adams closed in, all while the leaders began to navigate lapped traffic.

With three to go, Stai was under fire from Larson once again, and Larson pulled even down the backstretch with two to go. Adams was right on their bumpers, making it three wide into turn one during the white flag lap. Larson tried to use the outside line heading down the backstretch and into the final turns, but Stai broke his momentum and hung on for the hard-fought victory. Larson, Adams, Haas and 10th-starter Nick Koehler completed the top five.

Jesse Redetzke (Chris Burback Photo)

Tate Anderson was the early leader of the WISSOTA Super Stock feature, with Redetzke quickly making his way to the front using the high side and gaining second in the first few laps. Scott Geiger, Thomas Hauert and Jeff Eisner, Jr. were the early top five.

Out front Redetzke made his move to the inside of Anderson with a handful of laps in the books for the lead, but Anderson kept close in second.

At the halfway point, Redetzke began to stretch his lead. The caution fell with eight laps left on the board for an Alex Lessard spin in turn four.

Back under green, Redetzke took off into the lead, with ninth-starter Alex Myers blasting by Anderson to second and immediately putting pressure on the No. 207. They were side by side a lap later, with five laps to go. Myers continued to show his nose underneath Redetzke in the turns, with Redetzke pulling away slightly down the frontstretch and backstretch.

In the closing laps, Redetzke maneuvered out to a healthy advantage and he took the victory ahead of Myers. Eisner, Anderson and Geiger completed the top five.

Kaden Blaeser (Chris Burback Photo)

Kaden Blaeser was the early leader of the WISSOTA Modified feature from the pole, under heavy pressure from Justin Weinberger. Weinberger took the lead with a couple of laps complete and set off to a healthy advantage while Blaeser settled into second ahead of Kennedy Swan. Blake Adams was fourth ahead of Cory Crapser in the early top five.

Blaeser began to cut back into the lead Weinberger had established. Swan was still third, with Adams fourth and AJ Diemel working into the top five.

At the halfway point Blaeser moved to the inside of Weinberger at the start-finish line, with Blaeser using a slider to gain the lead in turn four. With five laps to go Adams took second from Weinberger.

Blaeser had lapped traffic in both lanes just ahead as the laps quickly wound down, allowing Adams to cut into his lead. Weinberger was third and Diemel drove by Swan for fourth.

Out front, Blaeser held on for the victory ahead of a closing Adams. Weinberger, Diemel and Swan rounded out the top five.

Chad Mahder (Chris Burback Photo)

Mahder was the early leader of the WISSOTA Late Model feature, before Jim Carlson took the spot a lap later. Mahder drove back into the lead before the conclusion of the third lap, with Carlson under heavy pressure from Ashley Anderson and Greg Nippoldt for second; Anderson took the spot shortly after, with Nippoldt doing the same a lap later.

Mahder stretched his lead out front, with Nippoldt getting by Anderson to second. Carlson was fourth and Cory Crapser was fifth.

With five to go, Anderson drove back by Nippoldt to second, and they continued to argue over the spot in the waning laps. Crapser was now fourth and Carlson was fifth.

Out front Mahder took his first win of the season, ahead of Anderson, Nippoldt, Crapser, and Jake Hartung in the top five.

After an entertaining back and forth between Howe and Tom Karis that lasted for many laps of the USRA Late Model feature, Howe secured the top spot on the final trip around Red Cedar to garner the victory. Karis was second, 10th-starter Lucas Peterson charged to third, Jason McFadden was fourth and Caden Steffen Ludwig rounded out the top five.
