Koski claims first-ever Midwest Mod win at Hibbing while Smith stops Pure Stocks cold and Penney stings Hornets
HIBBING, MN (June 13) - Keith Koski broke through for his first-ever WISSOTA Midwest Modified victory Saturday at Hibbing Speedway, to highlight WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action at the Iron Range track.
Other winners in WISSOTA-sanctioned action included Jake Smith in the WISSOTA Pure Stocks and Nathan Penney in the WISSOTA Hornets.
Koski started on the pole and took full advantage, grabbing his first-ever win in the Midwest Mods ahead of Garrett Paull, who picked his way to second from sixth. Mikey Blevins, Sam Blevins and Alex O’Dell completed the top five.
Jake Smith took the lead around the halfway point of the Pure Stock feature and drove to a 1.5-plus second advantage at the finish ahead of Kade Leeper in second. Austin Carlson, Mason Smith and Dylan Elhardt completed the top five.
Penney worked his way forward from the eighth starting spot to take the lead and garner the eventual win in the Hornets. He was chased to the checkered flag by Zeb Graves, Tucker Smith, Ryker Larson and Nick Ruzich in the top five.
Victor Westerlund won from the pole in the track’s Crown Vic class.
