Chernosky chops up Thunder City competition again on Wednesday while Vernon, Kellar and Owens outrun other classes

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (May 22) - Cole Chernrosky’s stranglehold on the competition at Thunder City Speedway does not seem to be losing any grip. For the second week in a row, Chernosky captured both the Modified and Super Stock features at the Thunder Bay oval. Tyler Vernon, A.J. Kellar and Jesse Owen also collected WISSOTA Dirt Track Series victories on Thursday evening.

Chernosky redrew the front row of the 18-lap WISSOTA Modified main event, and led from flag to flag for the feature win. Tyler Vernon moved from fifth to second, and Brandon Copp charged from seventh to third by the checkered flag. David Simpson and Tanner Williamson rounded out the top five.

In the WISSOTA Super Stock main event, Chernosky started fourth on the grid, worked his way to the front early, and raced to the checkered flag for the victory. Shawn Polonski rallied from seventh to finish second with Rick Simpson third, Danny Young fourth and Nathan Roy fifth.

Vernon also backed up his opening week victory with a win in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds. The Wisconsin racer started on the front row, topped an early-race skirmish for the lead, and paced the remaining distance for an over 3-second victory. Kevin Monteith battled forward from the 11th-starting spot and claimed second at the finish with Curtis Stieh third, Kolby Reed fourth and David Kivi fifth.

Kellar started on the front row of the WISSOTA Street Stock main event, and secured the lead after a brief battle for the top spot. Kellar opened a large lead, but Kyle Bolt chipped away at the disadvantage in the second half of the race, although he could not draw close enough. The well-traveled Trey Hess finished third with Tyson Waller fourth and Kathryn Stieh fifth.

Jesse Owen claimed his second WISSOTA Hornet win of the season. Owen raced to the lead in the early laps, and grabbed the victory over Selena Owen, Martin Bolt, Kathleen Speaker and Rick Breukelman.
