Peterson, McCaughan and Greseth get victory lane celebration time at River Cities Speedway
By Steven Young
GRAND FORKS, ND (May 21) - Cole Greseth returned to victory lane at River Cities Speedway during the track’s special Thursday night program heading into the long Memorial Day weekend.
The Grand Forks bullring was also conquered by Tyler Peterson, who picked up his first win in the WISSOTA Late Models for the 2026 season, while Dylan McCaughan topped the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds for his first win at the speedway.
Troy Schill and Brad Seng led the field of WISSOTA Late Models to the green from the front row, the feature also serving as the beginning of the season for the NLRA Late Model tour. Shane Edginton split the front row pair, making it three-wide in the first trips through turns one and two, before Edginton settled into second. Tyler Peterson executed a perfect diamond off the top of turn two and moved under the bottom of Schill to take third on the second lap.
Starting on lap four, cautions began to litter the 25-lap feature. Edginton capitalized on the second restart of the race to take the lead on lap six. Edginton, who was looking to back up his opening night win from the previous Friday, held a half-second lead ahead of Peterson in heavy lapped traffic before the third caution with 14 to go.
Following the fourth caution two circuits later, Peterson capitalized on the ensuing restart and took the point with 10 laps left on the board. Peterson pulled away following the sixth and final caution with eight to go and won by a second and a half ahead of Edginton, Brad Seng, Brody Troftgruben and Cole Schill.

Kenna Breidenbach and Austin Hunter led the WISSOTA Midwest Mod feature to green. Breidenbach led the opening lap as she searched for her second career victory at the bullring. She held off Dylan McCaughan for the first two circuits before she got too high exiting turn two and drove off the backstretch, which brought out the second caution of the race.
McCaughan took the point on the restart and led a trio of Canadian drivers in the top three, followed by Memphis Klassen and Hunter. McCaughan continued to lead through a lap eight caution and through the midway point as Jory Berg moved past Hunter to complete the podium.
Berg continued to make his way through the field, passing Klassen for second with nine laps remaining before the final caution came with seven to go. Klassen took the runner-up spot back on the final restart as McCaughan continued to master the low groove in the closing laps to pick up his first win at River Cities ahead of Klassen, Berg, Brennan Schmidt, and Hunter in the top five.

John Halvorson and Greg Jose paced the field at the start of the WISSOTA Street Stock main event. The pair remained door-to-door for the majority of the opening circuit with Halvorson leading at the end of the lap. Cole Greseth made it a three-car battle for the top spot on the second lap and took the lead coming off of turn two, while Halvorson and Jose held second and third.
Greseth continued to hold the point following a lap five caution as Halvorson and Jose continued to battle door-to-door for second. A restart following the second caution on lap nine allowed Jose to take the runner-up spot as Greseth continued to lead.
Jose was beginning to reel in Greseth as the leader had trouble with a lapped car with five to go, but Greseth made the winning move coming off of turn four two laps later to put the lapped car between himself and Jose. Greseth continued on to victory ahead of Jose, Halvorson, Weston Ramsrud, and Blaine Barnes in the top five.
In the track’s Sprint action, Jade Hastings was victorious, while Scott Richardson charged from 10th to first in the Legends feature.
