Holtquist holds the checkers when Princeton racers and fans put a bow on the 2026 quarter-mile campaign

PRINCETON, MN (October 17) - Princeton Speedway put the bow on its 2026 season Saturday in Princeton, MN, with WISSOTA Mod Fours part of the program. Crown Vics, Winged Sprints, Traditional Sprints and Micro Sprints were also part of the evening’s events.

Matt Brenny and Robert Holtquist brought the field to the green flag in the WISSOTA Mod Fours. Robert was the early leader, as Dustin Holtquist moved to the inside of Brenny for second. They raced side by side for the spot, as Andrew Christenson was fourth and Tyler Larson was fifth with just three laps complete.

Brenny and Dustin continued to race side by side, with Brenny along the high side and Dustin down low. Out front, Robert had just shy of a .6-second lead ahead of the battle for second. Christenson remained fourth, and Thomas Burgard worked into fifth. A caution fell for 12 laps to go for Troy Jordan, who left the track with a flat tire.

Back under green, Robert continued to lead the field and Dustin worked by Brenny to second. Brenny drove off the top side of the track, allowing Burgard to shake out into third, with Chad Funt fourth and Christenson fifth.

Out front, with half the race in the books, Robert and Dustin fought back and forth for the lead. Dad had a slight lead of .362 seconds ahead of son. They continued to circle the track side by side in the turns, with Dustin looking for a way by his father Robert in the lead.

With the checkered flag in the air Dustin made one last attempt to gain the top spot, but Robert held on and took the win. Burgard, Chad Funt and Christenson completed the top five.

Matthew Jasper started in the second row of the Winged Sprints feature, moving into the lead and taking the eventual victory ahead of Willie Ewing, Casey Lang, John Lowe and Mitch Hagen in the top five.

Leighton Rose won the Micro Sprint feature from the fourth starting spot. Polesitter Jeff Friederick settled for second ahead of Marshall Willing, Brenden Newville and Brian Link in the top five.

Tyler Wass topped the Traditional Sprint feature from his front-row starting spot, grabbing the checkered flag ahead of Ken Hron, Westen Johnson, KC Hawkinson and JD Kouba in the top five.

Mike Layne picked his way forward from eighth at the start of the Crown Vic feature to garner the eventual victory ahead of Calvin Saldana, Michael Blevins, Sr., Wayne Nelson and Galen Hass in the top five.
