River Cities hosts one final WISSOTA Mod show for 2026 and Holtan hoists bullring hardware for the first time in six years

GRAND FORKS, ND (September 25) - Aaron Holtan won his first feature in six years at River Cities Speedway Friday night, as the track in Grand Forks, ND hosted one more WISSOTA Modified show at the Bullring for 2026, alongside a full program of Sprint car action.

Patrick Sobolik and Ryan Johnson led the field of WISSOTA Modifieds to the green flag, with Sobolik having the early advantage ahead of Johnson and Holtan in the top three. Holtan took an inside look on Johnson with two laps completed, and stole second the next time by. Brock Gronwold was fourth and Jordan Duray was fifth.

Holtan quickly caught Sobolik out front and slid by in turn four to complete the fourth lap. Farther back, Gronwold moved to third a lap later and then drove by Sobolik for second with seven laps complete.

Holtan’s lead at the halfway point was about 1 second, with Gronwold closing quickly. As Holtan prepared to put a car a lap down in his preferred low lane, Gronwold blasted past on the high side and pulled away as Holtan struggled to get past the lapped car.

Disaster struck with just four laps to go as heavy smoke poured from the tail of Gronwold’s No. 2G, and Gronwold pulled off the track with three to go.

Out front, Holtan had about a 5.5-second lead on the pack before the caution fell for a spun Brenden Luschinski in turns one and two.

With the green back out, Holtan drove off from Duray in second and took the victory. Sobolik, Dustin Wahl, and Johnson completed the top five.

In the track’s other action, Zach Olson topped the Western Renegade Wingless Sprint feature, Mark Dobmeier was the winner in the NOSA Sprints, Hayden Koehmstedt won the Lightning Sprint feature, and Kate Taves won the 305 Winged Sprints feature.
