Kodet claims first career feature win at Granite City’s Piston Cup; other night one winners are Adams, Koch, Gullikson, Holtquist and Fosso

SAUK RAPIDS, MN (September 25) - The sixth annual Piston Cup got underway Friday night at Granite City Motor Park. Chance Kodet picked up the first victory of his career in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, while Blake Adams, Dexton Koch, Jim Gullikson, Dustin Holtquist and Brady Fosso also scored WISSOTA Dirt Track Series wins on opening night.

Kodet’s first victory was not uncontested; he took the lead from, lost the lead to, and regained the lead from Jake Hagemann en route to the milestone win. Kodet led the final five laps, Hagemann settled for second, Jake Molitor was third, Matt Everts was fourth and Jaxon Helland rallied from 19th for fifth.

Adams led the distance for the WISSOTA Modified victory. Don Eischens worked into second in the late stages of the race, but could not deny Adams the flag-to-flag win. Landon Atkinson finished third with ninth-starter Travis Saurer fourth and Ryan Gierke fifth.

Koch started in the fifth row when the WISSOTA Super Stock field took the green flag. He methodically worked his way forward, snatched the lead just before the halfway mark, and pulled away to a 2.5 second margin of victory. Tommy Bawden also started in the fifth row and followed Koch to the front for runner-up honors. Ryan Satter finished third ahead of Dylan Kromschroeder and Dustin Nelson.

Gullikson started on the pole and had a comfortable lead throughout much of the WISSOTA Street Stock main event. Eric Riley closed late, but finished slightly more than a half-second behind Gullikson at the checkers. Cody Kummer, Ryan Satter and Caiden Engel crossed the line inside the top five.

Holtquist grabbed the lead early in the second half of the WISSOTA Mod Four feature, and blasted away to win by nearly 5 seconds. Connor Bruss led the opening half of the race, but settled for a distant second ahead of Ashton Schwinn, Tyler Larson and Robert Holtquist.

Fosso took the lead early in the WISSOTA Hornet feature, and pulled away to the feature victory. Nathan Penney finished more than a second back in the runner-up position, with Colten Lodermeier third, Adam VanDerostyne fourth, and Christian Kast fifth.

Connor Hass earned top honors in the Crown Vic division.
