Rain shortens day one of the Piston Cup, but not before Adams, Kromschroeder, Gullikson, Holtquist and Jenson take checkers

SAUK RAPIDS, MN (September 20 & 21) - Delayed by one day, Granite City Motor Park fought through challenging weather conditions to complete the opening night of the 5th annual Piston Cup. Completed over Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, Blake Adams, Dylan Kromschroeder, Jim Gullikson, Dustin Holtquist and Anthony Jenson were WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners.

Gullikson ran away in the early portion of the WISSOTA Street Stock main event. Tommy Pogones moved by Braedyn Fleck for second a handful of laps in the race, and challenged Gullikson after a late restart. Gullikson fought off the threat and scored the win ahead of Pogones, Trey Hess, Joe Martin and Fleck.

Adams grabbed the lead off the start in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature, and drew away from Joey Jensen to grab the feature victory. Jensen finished second ahead of Jake Smith, Brady Larson and Ryan Putnam.

Kromschroeder led every lap of the WISSOTA Super Stock main event, but had to turn back numerous challenges from Shane Sabraski as he searched for victory No. 1,000. Kromschroeder was up to the task before Sabraski dropped from competition in the late laps. Denis Czech finished second with 10th-starter Tommy Bawden third, Max Nelson fourth and Jake Luark fifth.

Adams raced from the front row to victory in the WISSOTA Modified main event on Sunday afternoon. JT Johnson trailed Adams across the line three seconds behind, while Sabraski, Zach Benson and Eric Lamm rounded out the top five.

Holtquist put on a dominating performance in the WISSOTA Mod Fours; he worked from seventh to the front quickly, and then pulled away for a nearly 5-second win. Rowan Tramm was second ahead of Blake Hawker, Chad Funt and Thomas Burgard.

Jenson topped the WISSOTA Hornet main event from the front row. Travis Roush finished second ahead of William Lange, Christian Kast and Bobie Arnes.

Mass made the move by race-long leader Jeff Provinzino with just over five laps to go en route to the Late Model feature win on Saturday night. Provinzino held on for second ahead of Daniel Bargender in third, John Kaanta fourth and Patrick Kelley fifth.

Mike Layne topped action in the Crown Vics.
