Ebert earns a ticket to WISSOTA 100 Championship Feature with a Friday night LM qualifier victory

FERGUS FALLS, MN (September 19) - Add a WISSOTA Late Model Qualifying Feature win at the WISSOTA 100 to the list of accomplishments for Dan Ebert in 2026. The national-touring Late Model racer made a late-race pass to score the victory and earn a front-row start for Saturday night’s Championship Feature.

Mike Stearns and Tyler Peterson shared the front row for the 20-lap Qualifying Feature, with the top eight finishers making the cut for the WISSOTA 100 finale. Peterson grabbed the lead at the start, and Dexton Koch looked to the outside of Stearns for second. Dan Ebert slid in front of Koch, but Stearns lost power out of turn four and dropped from the race.

After a pair of cautions with one lap scored, Peterson maintained the lead, and Koch dropped in ahead of Ebert for second. Jeff Provinzino made the outside groove work and claimed third on lap three, then raced around Koch for second on lap four. Chad Becker also worked a higher groove and challenged Ebert for fourth.

Koch moved in and looked under Provinzino for second, while Ebert closed in on the battle as well. Koch finally reclaimed second at the halfway point and moved away from the battle for third, where Ebert ducked under Provinzino on lap 12.

Peterson worked through lapped traffic in the second half of the race, but had a healthy lead while Ebert tried to track down Koch for second. A spin by a lapped car brought out the caution with 14 of 20 laps scored.

Ebert powered to second when the green waved, and he stayed close to Peterson at the point. Provinzino raced around Koch, and started to close on the top two. Ebert was close to the leader with two laps to go, and found speed through the middle of the speedway. Ebert blasted around the outside of Peterson out of turn four and led to the white flag. Ebert led the final lap and scored the win to earn the middle of the front row for the championship feature. Peterson settled for second with Provinzino third, Kock fourth, Shawn Meyer fifth, Becker sixth, Dustin Arthur seventh and Dave Flynn in the final transfer position.

The Late Models needed three heat races, eight laps in distance, to set the qualifying feature for the Friday portion of the program. The top 24 in passing points made the cut.

Koch dominated the first heat race, while Gavin Shaw had his hands full the whole race with pressure from Shawn Meyer and Jordan Tollakson. Shaw held on for second, and Meyer edged Tollakson for third. Cole Schill was fifth at the checkered flag.

Nick Corbett pulled away in the opening laps of heat two. Mike Stearns started sixth, but worked by Dave Flynn for second on lap two. After a lap-three caution, Stearns stole the lead from Corbett, and Corbett lost second to Flynn with three laps to go. The battle for second was intense to the checkers, and Tyler Peterson passed two cars in the final turn to grab the runner-up position. Flynn was third ahead of Corbett and Chad Becker.

Talon Seckerson pulled out to an early lead in heat three, ahead of a trio of cars battling for second. After the halfway mark, Ebert secured second, and reeled in the leader. With a move in the final set of turns, Ebert stole the victory and left Seckerson to settle for second. Jeff Provinzino was third with Jon Tollakson fourth and Konnor Sperle fifth.

The Late Models contested a Last Chance Qualifier, with the top six cars earning a spot in the championship feature. Nick Corbett snatched the initial lead in the 15-lap race, but Ben Wolden kept the heat on. The top two broke away from the rest of the pack, and Wolden did not cut Corbett any slack. Cory Tammen reeled in Jon Tollakson for fifth, and Danny Vang joined the mix for the final two transfers. The top four of Corbett, Wolden, Dalton Magers and Konnor Sperle were spread out around the speedway, but the race for fifth was not settled. Vang made a power move to slide in front of both Tollakson and Tammen, and stole fifth with four laps to go.

Corbett raced away to the victory, and Wolden held off Magers for second. Magers did not pass tech inspection, moving Sperle to third, Vang to fourth, Tollakson to fifth, and Tammen to sixth.
