Sabraski dominates three classes and Jensen one on night two of fair races at Grand Rapids Speedway

GRAND RAPIDS, MN (August 20) - The “Iron Man” ruled with an iron fist Thursday at Grand Rapids Speedway, as multi-time WISSOTA National Champion Shane Sabraski scored feature victories in three of the four WISSOTA Dirt Track Series classes on hand.

Sabraski took home wins in the WISSOTA Late Models, Modifieds and Super Stocks, while Joey Jensen topped the Midwest Mods.

Tyler Kintner was the early leader in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, ahead of Caley Emerson and Joey Jensen in the top three. Jensen drove by Emerson for second about five laps into the feature and set chase after Kintner before a multi-car spin farther back in the pack regrouped the field.

Back under green, Kintner continued to hold down the top spot through another caution in turn four once again.

Kintner remained in control in front of the field, while Emerson challenged Jensen for second. Darrin Lawler was fourth and Josh Beaulieu held a top-five spot. Another caution just past the halfway point regrouped the field.

With the green back out over the field, Kintner held the slight advantage ahead of Jensen, who inched closer to the race-long leader. Kintner was able to pull away slightly in the closing laps, before a bobble along the high side opened the door for Jensen. Farther back, Beaulieu had driven by Emerson for third after a back-and-forth battle for the spot.

Jensen led the last two laps to take home the victory ahead of Kintner, 10th-starter Beaulieu, Emerson, and Dylan Miller in the top five.

After a first lap caution, Kevin Salin had the early lead ahead of Michael Blevins in the WISSOTA Super Stocks. Heading into turn one Tristan LaBarge drifted up the track and contact was made with Michael Blevins, Sr.; in what appeared to be retaliation, Blevins drove into the side of LaBarge on the ensuing turn and both cars spun to a stop. Blevins was given the black flag and done for the night.

Salin led the field back to green, but LaBarge slid up in front of Salin for the lead in turns one and two. Sabraski slipped into second, and then took the lead a lap or two later from LaBarge. Dylan Nelson was close behind in third. It took Nelson several laps, but he was able to work his way past LaBarge just as the yellow came out, negating the move.

Sabraski held the lead with the field back under green, as Nelson and LaBarge went to war over second. Nelson pulled ahead before the lap was complete, as Dalton Carlson was fourth and Chaston Finckbone hung in fifth.

The checkered flag fell a few laps later for Sabraski, who scored the win ahead of Nelson, LaBarge, Carlson and Finckbone in the top five.

Sabraski hopped from victory lane into his WISSOTA Late Model, where the polesitter immediately drove away from fellow front-row starter Jeff Provinzino for the lead. A caution for a spin farther in the back regrouped the field.

Back under green Sabraski’s lead grew to several car lengths, as Kyle Peterlin drove by Provinzino to second. Provinzino then fell into the grasp of Johnny Broking and fell back to fourth. Broking, who raced along the low side, used the next lap to work past Peterlin, who was committed to the high side, and into second.

As Sabraski worked by lapped traffic, Broking gained on the No. 7A. Peterlin was feeling the heat again from Provinzino, and Josh Beaulieu was fifth. Provinzino drove back past Peterlin for third a couple of laps later.

Out front Sabraski captured another victory for the evening, ahead of Broking, Provinzino, Peterlin, and Beaulieu in the top five.

Blake Adams held the top spot early on in the WISSOTA Modified feature, with Sabraski in second ahead of Lance Schilling. A caution fell for a car into the tire in turn four.

Adams and Sabraski were side by side following the drop of the green, and remained so for a lap before Sabraski got the upper hand along the low side with a slider into turn two. Adams continued to pull to the bumper of Sabraski, with Schilling still in third and Bob Broking and Mervin Castle III working their way into the top five.

Lapped traffic could not slow the No. 7A Thursday, as he drove on to the eventual win ahead of Adams, Broking, Castle and Schilling in the top five.
