Nelson, Bellefeuille, McFadden, Larson, Fencl & LeDoux lock up wins as Proctor wraps up its regular season

PROCTOR, MN (August 23) - The regular season came to a close Sunday night at Proctor Speedway, with point champions crowned in their respective divisions.

WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners included Darrell Nelson, Jody Bellefeuille, Shawn McFadden, Brady Larson, Austin Fencl and Kyle LeDoux.

Darrell Nelson earned the WISSOTA Late Model main event victory, the second of the season for him at the speedway. He started in the third row, stole the top spot from race-long leader Tim McMann after the halfway point of the race, and pulled away to victory. Cade Nelson, his son, made a late race move past McMann for second and Kevin Burdick did the same for third. McMann and Harry Hanson completed the top five, and Hanson topped the division’s point standings.

Jason Miller led early on in the WISSOTA Modified feature, in his first appearance back at the track in many years. Evan Checkalski used two slide jobs to strong-arm the lead from Miller.

Bellefeuille worked his way forward from the fifth position, drove by Checkalski for the lead and went on to earn the victory, his second of the season at the speedway. Checkalski posted a second-place finish ahead of Darrell Nelson, Miller and Curtis Stieh. Brandon Copp finished sixth and earned the track points championship.

McFadden wrapped the regular season at Proctor with his seventh win in nine starts in the WISSOTA Super Stock division, which earned him a track championship. He started on the front row on Sunday, and pulled away to win by 4 seconds ahead of Tristan LaBarge, Adam Pratt, and the final finisher Kevin Salin.

Brady Larson made his first trip to Proctor pay off with the victory in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds. He started in the fourth row of the main event, and made a late-race move for the win past race-long leader Brant Gruba. Gruba finished second with Sam Blevins third, Justin Bassa fourth and Adam Shinn fifth. Paul Ripley was the track champion in the division.

Austin Fencl topped a late-race battle with Aaron Bernick for his first win of the season at the oval. Fencl collected the hard-fought victory with Bernick second, Tom Treviranus third, Tyler Wahlstrom fourth and point champion Dylan Helget fifth.

Kyle LeDoux picked up his third WISSOTA Hornet main event win of the season at the oval. He started on the front row, and outran point champion Nick Ruzich to the finish line. Madisyn Olson was third ahead of McKenna Folstad and Zeb Graves.
