Holtan, Blacklance, Gust and Westcott winners on Polaris Night at Greenbush Race Park

GREENBUSH, MN (August 22) - It was Polaris Night at Greenbush Race Park Saturday night, and Polaris Industries was on hand to put on a great event for their employees to enjoy.

WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners when the final checkered flew included Aaron Blacklace, Jeremy Gust, Aaron Holtan, and Hunter Westcott.

The evening’s lineup began with the WISSOTA Pure Stocks. Justin Honer and Austin Carlson began the race out front, and Carlson pulled away early. A caution later in the race shrunk his lead and tightened the field back up. Carlson was challenged on the last lap by Westcott, who drove by along the low side and hung on through the final set of turns to score his first-ever victory. Carlson was second and Jake Smith completed the podium.

The WISSOTA Street Stocks were next up to bat with Chris Dudley and Deryk Weleski out front. Those two battled for the lead for several laps. As they traded paint, Jeremy Gust slipped by on the low side and once past Dudley, he was on cruise control the rest of the way. Dudley and Weleski continued to race for position until the checkered flag waved. Dudley took the spot and Weleski was third. Jon Halvorson and Charlie Paradis rounded out the top five.

The WISSOTA Midwest Mods had a full field of cars and a feature that was loaded with action. Justin Olson and Carter Matthews led the field to green, and Olson fought with Matthews for the lead before taking control. Aaron Blacklance picked his way forward and using the low side to get by Matthews, he then took a similar route past Olson for the lead. Once there, he held on for the win by a few car lengths ahead of Olson. Matthews was fourth, having been supplanted by Connor Drewry after the last five laps of the race for the spot. Hunter Besson was fifth.

The WISSOTA Modifieds were represented by a stout field of contenders Saturday night, led by Cameron Brown and Brody Strachan to the green flag. Strachan forged ahead to lead, with Brown in hot pursuit, trying his best to keep pace with the leader. Blake Ferris, who started fourth, maneuvered his car around the others and took control of the race. Aaron Holtan started in sixth and began picking cars off along the low side of the track.

Once in clear air, he set his sights on Ferris, who was the leader with three laps to go. It appeared to be an effort in vain until Holtan started to drive wide open through the rough part of the track. With the white flag in the air, he made the move for the lead and held on by a nose to take home the win followed by Ferris, Bryce Borgen, Strachan and Connor Graff in the top five.

In the Four Cylinder feature, fourth-starter Nick McCann worked his way to the lead just a few laps into the race and never looked back. Behind him, Hayden Engen stayed comfortably in second the remainder of the race and Brooke McCann crossed the line in third.

The Lightning Sprints had a wild night. Dexter Dvergstein used the middle of the track to work his way to the front and once there he put his car on cruise control and took home the win.

In a follow up to an incident in the Lightning Sprint feature, Emmit Isane was back home and resting following emergency care at the track.
