Kromschroeder claims rare Super Stock win at Casino; Thomas, Randt brothers and Kast also claim Clash cash

WATERTOWN, SD (August 22) - In a rare appearance by the Super Stocks at Casino Speedway, Dylan Kromschroeder stole the win in a last-corner pass to earn the victory during the second annual Clash at Casino.

Joe Thomas, Levi Randt, Landyn Randt and Christian Kast also notched WISSOTA Dirt Track Series wins on Saturday night during the special event.

Dexton Koch and Trevor Nelson brought the WISSOTA Super Stock field to the green, and Koch grabbed the lead. Kromschroeder moved in to challenge Nelson for second, and finally snagged the spot on lap five. Koch had opened a solid lead at the front of the field, but Kromschroeder chipped away at his advantage as the field moved into the second half of the race.

Lapped traffic was an issue in the final five laps, and Kromschroeder was within a couple car lengths with a few laps left. Kromschroeder was ready to strike, and on the final lap out of turn four, Koch left enough of an opening for Kromschroeder to squeeze by and steal the win in thrilling fashion. Koch was second ahead of Nelson, Travis Scott and Bryson North.

Joe Thomas led lap one of the WISSOTA Modified main event, but Tony Konold fought back on the outside and led lap two. After a restart with two laps complete, Ryan Gierke worked the inside to challenge Thomas and Konold in a battle for the lead. Three cars put on a spirited battle for the lead before a lap five caution.

After the restart, Dave Cain moved in to make it a four-car race. Thomas officially took the lead from Konold on lap eight, and Cain was to his inside with Gierke and Konold still in the mix. Thomas edged away from Cain little by little to the halfway point, and Konold had fallen into the grips of Mike Stearns in the race for fourth.

With eight laps to go, Cain had closed onto the bumper of the leader once again as they both caught traffic. Cain kept the heat on the leader until the caution waved with four laps remaining.

Thomas — the 2023 Modified track champion — held steady during the remaining laps to earn the win. Cain lost second to Gierke after the restart, but was able to reclaim the position before the checkered flag with Gierke third, Stearns fourth and Brandon Dolman fifth.

Joe Martin grabbed the lead when the green flag waved on the 20-lap WISSOTA Street Stock main event. Levi Randt slipped by Tony Miller for second out of turn two, and applied heavy pressure for the lead before Miller spun in turn four and the race was slowed for a pileup with one lap complete.

Martin maintained the lead after the restart, but Randt was glued to his trunk lid as they both pulled away from Jayden Bogh. Randt remained patient, and made an inside move into turn three as the lead pair approached slower traffic with five laps to go. Martin remained close as the two diced in traffic, but pushed too hard into turn three and caught the side of Randt; the pair spun to a stop and Martin was sent to the tail for the restart with four laps to go.

Despite a left front flat tire from the contact, Randt remained smooth to grab the victory. Maria Broksieck, who started 11th, made a few late race moves, and stole second from Bogh with a couple laps to go. Andy Rossow and Wade Tirrel rounded out the top five.

Landyn Randt grabbed the lead when the 20-lap WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature went green. Todd Stark provided a little early pressure, but Stark exited the speedway under a lap-four caution. Dawson Zabel and Tommy Nichols battled for the runner-up position after the restart, and Zabel was firmly in the position before a caution with eight laps to go.

Randt continued to set the pace after the restart and slipped away, while Nichols and Zabel were in a side-by-side battle for second. A pair of late restarts did not slow Randt, who scored the win ahead of Zabel, while ninth-starter Jake Smith stole third from Nichols in the final laps. Jake Wranek was fifth.

Matthew Dittman grabbed the lead when the 12-lap WISSOTA Hornet feature took the green. Christian Kast made a nice move to slice into second, then went around Dittman for the lead on lap five. Kast rolled away for the win, while Dittman and Adam VanDerostyne had a door-to-door duel for much of the remaining distance. Dittman secured second at the checkers over VanDerostyne, Dalten Pedersen, and Paxton Tjaden.

Mike Stearns led early in the 40-lap Tri-State Late Model main event, but Corey Dumpert made the move for the top spot with eight laps complete. Stearns challenged for the win again after a mid-race restart, but Dumpert held on for the victory ahead of Stearns, Shane Edginton in Scott Ward’s No. 37, Cody Thompson and Charlie Olsen in the top five.
