It was a soggy Saturday at Rice Lake, but the show goes on as Swan, Myers, Koehler, Amundson & Wahlstrom pick up wins

RICE LAKE, WI (August 15) - A rain delay could not stop the action on Saturday at Rice Lake Speedway. Kennedy Swan, who lost what seemed to be a potential feature win last Saturday, made up for it this week. She led from start to finish to top the WISSOTA Modified feature race and highlight Hall of Fame night at the speedway.

Other WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners in what turned out to be a soggy night at the track included Alex Myers, Nick Koehler, Shawn Amundson and Simon Wahlstrom.

Swan was not about to allow what happened to her last week to happen again, as she grabbed the lead from the opening green flag.

Early on she was chased by Matt Leer and Blake Adams, who worked his way from the third row to move into position behind Leer. As the race reached the halfway point, Mike Anderson became the driver on the move, as he worked his way to fourth and then began a long battle with Adams for third.

As they got into heavy traffic, Adams found his groove blocked and Anderson shot past into third, just before a yellow waved for a slowing driver with just four laps to go.

Swan took off quickly on the green, again building a lead, but Anderson continued his charge as he got by Leer for second and set off after the lead.

Swan was running strongly, however, and could not be caught. She raced on for the win with the top four remaining the same. Lance Schilling finished fifth.

Alex Myers (Brent Creaser Photo)

Alex Myers made a great comeback from last week's racing circumstances to win the WISSOTA Super Stock feature. Last week at this time, he was sitting in his wrecked race car as the result of a wild flip during the feature race and seven days later, he planted that same car in victory lane.

He, too, controlled his feature race. Behind him however, there was a great battle for second among Andrew Davis, Tucker Quinn, Lance Leu and Ryan Olson, as they swapped positions on nearly every lap.

Olson moved past Leu by the halfway point of the race but then, just one lap later, second-place runner Davis and third-place runner Quinn both pulled into the infield under yellow with mechanical issues.

Myers pulled away again from the field and the battle for second featured Olson fighting off Leu for the position. Both Rich Bishop and Travis Anderson had their best runs of the year to complete the top five. Myers’ win was his third of the year here, tops in what has been the most competitive division at the speedway in 2026.

Nick Koehler (Brent Creaser Photo)

When both are in attendance at the track, it seems like the 2026 WISSOTA Midwest Modified season has been one highlighted by great battles between Nick Koehler and Blake Adams. That scenario played out again on Saturday as the two ended up locked in another great battle for the win.

Joe Swearingen tried to break up their party as he grabbed the early lead and then led the opening four laps before Koehler was able to get to the inside of Swearingen and take over the lead. Adams moved into second a few laps later and the race for the win was on.

On a lightning-fast track, those two sped away from the field but no matter how hard Adams pushed his car, Koehler was just as fast; Adams was not able to make up any distance. They continued to fly around the oval in a race that ran green to checkered without a single slowdown.

The distance between the two remained the same with both pushing hard, but Koehler had the edge Saturday and the win was his, his fifth of the season at the speedway. Adams had to settle for second with Swearingen, Jake Stai and Brady Larson rounding out the top five.

Layla Chaplin (Brent Creaser Photo)

The most competitive feature race of the night was the WISSOTA Street Stock main event, with three different leaders before the final checkered flag waved. The race started out on a wild note as Alaina Chaplin was sideways on the back chute on the opening lap. Her car dug into the racing surface and she began a series of wild barrel rolls, going over perhaps four or five times. Track emergency crews raced to the scene as she emerged from the car uninjured.

The race resumed and her younger sister Layla grabbed the lead for the restart. She led the opening lap before she was passed by Cody Cimfl to take over the point.

Meanwhile, Shawn Amundson was moving up quickly to challenge and two laps later he powered by Cimfl in the low groove to take over the lead. Cole Richards was also moving up after starting in the third row and by the halfway point of the race had moved past Chaplin to take over third.

The rest of the race ran off green to checkered and Amundson continued to expand his lead. The battle for second proved to be a good one however, as Richards worked on Cimfl, trying to get to second. Several times Richards was close, but Cimfl managed to hold him off and take home second. Chaplin and Connor Franson completed the top five.

Simon Wahlstrom was back at the track with his WISSOTA Pure Stock on Saturday and he dominated the main event. The race got off to a strange start when outside front-row starter D'nae Rose pulled off the track before the green flag waved and the field had to be shuffled. The first lap then produced a scrambled start that ended with Carsyn Olson stopped and the race was restarted once again.

This time things went well and the rest of the race went on nonstop with Wahlstrom, who started on the pole, pulling away from the pack. Mark Barta quickly moved into second and he set off to try and catch Wahlstrom, who had built up a large lead early.

Wahlstrom was just cruising up front, but Barta didn't give up, continuing to push and try to catch the leader. Wahlstrom got into some traffic in the late going and he was held up slightly; Barta made the finish close with a late rush on the final lap, getting to within the rear bumper of Wahlstrom on the final corner. That was the best he could do, however, as Wahlstrom drove on for his eighth feature win of the year at the track. Olson and Bob Wahlstrom had a great battle for third, as Olson prevailed for the spot, and Alyson Karshbaum had her best run of the year as she rounded out the top five.

Two races into the program on Saturday, a surprise rain shower hit the track and while the track crew was working to get the racing surface back in shape after the rain stopped, the 2026 Hall of Fame inductees were introduced to the crowd. They included Mike Anderson, Bob Ellis, Mitch Hansen, Steve Laursen and The Wild Hogs (Craig Anderson, Brad Kuchera and Mike Kuchera).
