Giossi, Hartung, Spacek and Koehler go on a Friday night fair tear at Red Cedar Speedway

MENOMONIE, WI (July 25) - After a first-night rainout for the annual fair races at Red Cedar Speedway, the Menomonie, Wisconsin race track welcomed back fans and racers for night two, including WISSOTA-sanctioned action in the Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks and Midwest Mods, alongside the USRA Late Models and the track’s Hornet class.

WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners Friday included James Giossi, Jake Hartung, Terran Spacek and Nick Koehler.

In the WISSOTA Super Stocks, Spacek started in the third row, making his way into second behind leader Chad Johnson with a few laps scored. Following a caution for Robert Holmstrom, Jr. on lap six, Spacek used the restart to his advantage and drove by Johnson for the lead. Spacek continued to hold down the top spot through the remaining eight laps to take another victory at Red Cedar. Johnson and Jeff Eisner, Jr. filled out the podium. Eleventh-starter Avery Anderson used the high side to charge to fourth at the finish, while ninth-starter Andrew Davis completed the top five predominantly using the bottom lane.

Koehler’s main competition in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods came not from the front-runners, but from heavy lapped traffic through much of the race. Koehler was able to carefully navigate his way through lapped traffic after taking the early lead and kept Blake Adams and Brandon Jensen at bay to gather the eventual win. Adams, Jensen, Tyler Vernon and Justen Seipel were top-five finishers.

Hartung was the early leader from the pole of the WISSOTA Modified feature. A bit farther back Cory Crapser began to make his way to the front from the third row, moving into second by lap two and chipping away at Hartung’s lead until lap 10, when he was able to slide past the No. 05 and into the top spot.

Crapser held the lead until four to go, when Hartung slid him in turns three and four to regain the top spot. From there, Hartung hung on for the victory, while Crapser finished second. Shane Halopka, 11th-starter Blake Adams, and Calvin Iverson rounded out the top five.

In the evening’s night cap, Jake Redetzke was the early leader of the WISSOTA Late Model feature, before Giossi used a slider during lap two to drive by and take the lead. Giossi led the remaining 19 laps to the checkered flag, finishing just a half second ahead of Redetzke in second. Ashley Anderson, 10th-starter Cory Crapser, and Rick Hanestad completed the five.

In the USRA Late Models, Triton Krause was victorious, while Jeff Schmitt took the big money in the Hornet feature.
