Zabel and Bogh rumble to feature wins on first night of two at Brown County Speedway
By Spencer Heupel
ABERDEEN, SD (July 25) - After a summer break, Brown County Speedway returned to action with night one of the Dacotah Rumble. The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Tri-State Late Models and the DRC WISSOTA Street Stock Tour were all part of Friday night’s show, with 91 cars in the pits across the three classes.
Dawson Zabel and Jayden Bogh were the victors in their respective WISSOTA Dirt Track Series classes.
The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds rolled out first with 22 drivers on hand. Kyle Langland and Taylor Schmidt led the field to green, with Todd Stark the early leader from his third starting spot.
Stark’s quick pace placed him into lapped traffic by lap four, which allowed Jarod Klein to close in. As Klein closed, a lapped car spun and Klein had nowhere to go, ending his night on the wrecker.
Following the restart, Landyn Randt got a huge run out of turn two, applying the bumper to Stark down the backstretch, making contact again going into turn three; this sent Stark spinning and caused a multi-car crash.
After a short green-flag stint, the final restart came with five to go. Zabel blasted around Stark in the middle lane of the track, and then checked out to score his second win at BCS in 2025. Stark, Taylor Schmidt, Nick Perry and Kyle Langland were top-five finishers.

The DRC WISSOTA Street Stock Tour was up next, with 33 drivers all on hand for the $1,000 payday. Only 24 drivers made the dance, led to green by Jayden Bogh and Chris Serr; Bogh was the early leader.
Broc Stout and Levi Randt quickly moved into second and third, respectively. Caution struck on lap nine; following the restart, Trey Hess picked off Randt for third, drove by Stout for second and began tracking down Bogh.
The leaders started to battle with nine to go as Hess was trying everything to get around Bogh. As they battled, Hess got to the inside of Bogh and they were side by side for a few laps until Bogh drove back out from Hess with three to go. Bogh fended off Hess through the final laps for the victory, his fourth win of the year at BCS. Hess, Stout, Randt and Kyle Dykhoff rounded out the top five.
The final race of the night was for the Tri-State Late Model Series, with $2,500 on the line. Chad Becker bested the field in the 30-lap affair.
