Sprints get the top bill but Leiker and Funt score WISSOTA wins Saturday at Gillette

GILLETTE, WY (July 26) - Gillette Thunder Speedway hosted the ASCS Northern Plains Region and ASCS Western Plains Region Sprint Car tours Saturday night, with support from the WISSOTA Midwest Mods and Mod Fours, among other classes.

In WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action, Tony Leiker topped the Midwest Mods, while Minnesota traveler Andrew Funt scored the win in the Mod Fours.

Leiker started outside of the fourth row, making his way to the lead at the midpoint of the Midwest Mod feature. From there, he drove to a more than 3-second lead at the finish. Austin Baumberger, 10th-starter Jake Bosch, Danny Allen and Matthew Drake completed the top five.

Andrew Funt started from the pole in the WISSOTA Mod Fours and put his starting spot to good use, taking the victory after a battle with Brett Konst in the final few laps for the top spot. Brody Grenz, Steve Schicketanz and Chad Funt were top-five finishers.

Other winners during Saturday’s program included Dillon Johnson (IMCA Hobby Stocks), Kyle Anton (IMCA Modifieds), Steve Reile (Mini Bombers), and Caleb Saiz (Sprints).
