Brown County’s big weekend cut short by rumbles in the sky rather than on the track

ABERDEEN, S.D. (July 24 & 25) - The Dacotah Rumble returned to Brown County Speedway for the 2026 edition. The DRC WISSOTA Street Stock Tour and Tri-State Late Models were the main classes, but WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds joined for Friday's action while INEX Legends were on track both nights. Sadly, the weekend was affected in multiple ways by Mother Nature.

Friday night’s program included 105 drivers checked in, but was cut short as rain moved in at intermission. The track officials made the call to move the WISSOTA Street Stock and INEX Legends features to Saturday night’s program. The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds have their makeup scheduled for August 21.

Meanwhile, the Tri-State Late Model Series decided to combine Friday’s passing points with Saturday’s passing points.

As everyone returned for the Saturday night program, there were a total of 80 drivers checked in. The top prize being $6,600 to win for Tri-State Late Models.

Up first was the makeup feature for the DRC WISSOTA Street Stock Tour.

Jayden Bogh and Tommy Pogones led the field to green with Pogones grabbing the lead on the opening lap. With it being the first event on the track, it was one lane, but it began to widen out as the laps wore on, which allowed some good side-by-side action.

As Pogones led, Bogh fell back to fourth while Chris Serr and Justin Vogel moved past to take over second and third, respectively. As the leaders began to pull away, Pogones encountered lap traffic with 14 to go.

The traffic was heavy with only 10 to go; Serr and Vogel battled side by side and reeled in Pogones. As they caught the Pogones with only two to go, all three drivers were searching to get by the lapped traffic. Coming to the checkers, Pogones pushed in turn three, which opened the door for Serr; however, Pogones got a push from Vogel out of four to hold off Serr. Pogones’ win is his first ever at BCS. The win also made Pogones the first repeat winner of the 2026 season on the DRC Street Stock Tour.

The INEX Legends rolled out for their main event with 15 drivers starting the feature. The battle was between Regan Reinke and Preston Martin. Martin used his signature line on the high side to make a fun race, but Reinke held off Martin by 0.076 seconds at the line.

As they moved into Saturday’s program, the event made it through two rounds of Tri-State Late Model heats and WISSOTA Street Stock heats before Mother Nature rolled in again to wash out the rest of the event. Brown County Speedway and Tri-State Late Model Series officials are working on a potential new plan for the event; stay tuned to BCS’s Facebook page for that announcement.
