Wednesday night winners at Thunder City include Chernosky, Simpson, Sabraski, Randt and Owen

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (July 23) - Cole Chernosky, David Simpson, Levi Randt, Shane Sabraski and Selena Owen garnered WISSOTA Dirt Track Series victories Wednesday at Thunder City Speedway during the track’s Richard Schutte “Double Deuce” tribute night.

Chernosky was the winner in the WISSOTA Modifieds. He slipped into the lead with a handful of laps to go and drove away to a more than 2 second advantage ahead of fellow third-row starter Dave Cain at the checkered. Riley Matthews, Brandon Copp and Curtis Stieh were top five finishers.

After battling for a top-three spot for much of the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds feature, Simpson drove into the lead with about six laps left on the board and narrowly held off Jamie Davis for the victory by .192 of a second. Kevin Monteith, Curtis Stieh and Matthew Mitchell completed the top five.

Sabraski scored the victory in the WISSOTA Super Stocks, taking the lead with just four laps left on the board to notch the win. He was chased to the checkered flag by Chernosky, Rick Simpson, Shawn Polonoski, and Danny Young in the top five.

Randt took the lead in the WISSOTA Street Stocks in the early stages of the race and built a near 2 second lead at the end to score the win. Nathan Henny, A.J. Kellar, Kyle Bolt and Brendan Makkinga completed the top five.

Owen captured her sixth win of the season with a flag-to-flag effort in the WISSOTA Hornets. Polesitter Tyson DeVente had to settle for second ahead of Martin Bolt, Hunter Marshall and Jesse Owen.

Trip Wolframe was the winner in the Junior Slingshot class.
