Tourville goes green-to-checkered during a steamy Street Stock Tour event at KRA Speedway
By Ron Krog
WILLMAR, MN (July 16) - It was a hot, steamy evening at KRA Speedway, with temperatures in the mid 90s Thursday night as the DRC WISSOTA Street Stock Tour came to KRA and highlighted a great program of WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action.
Winners in WISSOTA-sanctioned action included Keith Tourville, Eric Martini, and Landyn Randt.
The DRC series sported 18 entries for the 20-lap feature. Tourville jumped into the early lead. Ethan Iiams was second, ahead of Justin Vogel in third. Derek Zieske and Kammron Rose fought back and forth for fourth. A caution with just two laps complete regrouped the field.
Back under green Tourville led Vogel, Iiams, Rose and Joe Martin, who moved into the top five. Out front Vogel was right on the bumper of Tourville for the top spot. Vogel continued to close to the bumper of the No. 111Jr., looking for a way by, before the caution fell again on two consecutive laps, with the field stuck at 15 to go.
Tourville and Vogel continued to wage war for the lead, as Iiams held third, Martin was fourth and Levi Randt cracked the top five. Martin moved into third before another caution with seven to go reset the field. Only a lap or two was completed before another caution for a multi-car incident brought the yellow back out.
Tourville set the pace out front once again with six to go as Vogel hung on to second. Randt was up to third, Martin was fourth and Iiams was fifth. Vogel began to close on Tourville in the waning laps, drawing to his bumper with two to go and getting under him with one to go; Vogel drove into turns three and four and spun Tourville, earning himself a trip to the back. Randt caught part of the wreck and left the track.
Tourville led through another caution and took the series victory ahead of Martin, Iiams, Cody Kummer, and Kolton Brauer.

In the WISSOTA Super Stocks, Eric Martini took the early lead, followed closely by Zach Schultz, who has been very fast lately. With Martini well out front, Dexton Koch made his move, racing to the outside of Schultz for second and claiming the spot. A caution with 10 to go reracked the field.
Martini remained strong in the lead following another caution on the restart and raced to the victory, with Koch holding off Schultz and Andrew Hedtke for second. Karter Reents rounded out the top five.
Landyn Randt (Track Photo)
The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were up next, and front-row starter Ryan Flaten was the early leader ahead of Landyn Randt, who was to the inside of polesitter Kevin Yeager for the second. Taylor Willms was fourth. Randt drove by Yeager the next time by and set chase after Flaten, as Justin Bjorklund worked Yeager for third. The caution fell with 14 laps left on the board for a multi-car collision.
Back under green Randt drove to the outside of Flaten for the lead, with Yeager third under fire from Bjorklund once again for the spot; Bjorklund took it the next lap.
As Randt added to his advantage, Flaten began to feel the pressure from Bjorklund with about eight laps to go. He moved to the inside with eight laps to go and was scored in third at the start-finish line with seven laps remaining.
In the end, Randt was very good, and took home another victory at KRA. Bjorklund was second, followed by Flaten, Willms and Yeager in the top five.
In the track’s Hornets class, Braxton Schmitz picked up the win. The Pure Stocks held a regular feature as well as a makeup feature Thursday. Ashton Martin picked up another win in the Pure Stocks, and Trevyn Carr was a first-time winner in the class.
