Burdick bests KME Late Model field at Proctor on a rare Thursday night at Twin Ports track

PROCTOR, MN (July 10) - The KME Late Model Series for WISSOTA Late Models was part of the docket on a rare Thursday night at Proctor Speedway July 10. Kevin Burdick locked down the win in that headliner, while Joey Jensen, Steve Stuart, Jody Bellefeuille and Carson Gotelaere were also WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners.

Cory Jorgensen was the early leader of the WISSOTA Midwest Mod feature before a caution in turn one during lap two brought the field back together. Back under green, Jorgensen continued to lead narrowly ahead of Jensen, who slipped into second. Jensen drove by to the inside about a lap later for the lead, as William Moelter moved into third, just ahead of Jimmy Latvala.

Following another caution, Jensen checked out ahead of the battle for second between Jorgensen and Moelter, as the field neared the halfway point. Moelter continued to work Jorgensen, but another caution for a stalled ride off turn two regrouped the field.

Jensen jumped back out to a healthy advantage under green, as it was four wide for second behind him; Moelter snuck through the pack to second, Jorgensen and Ripley were side by side for third, and Jacob Anderson was fifth.

Out front Jensen had a commanding lead at the checkered flag ahead of Moelter, Ripley, Jorgensen and Latvala in the top five.

Steve Stuart (Tom Krob Photo)

Kyle Copp was the early leader in the WISSOTA Super Stocks, followed closely by Jensen, Don Livingston and Steve Stuart.

They went three wide for the lead a lap later in turns one and two, with Stuart using his high-side line to gain the advantage. Copp and Jensen continued to fight for second, as Curt Myers moved into fourth.

Myers moved past Jensen and set off after Copp, while Stuart built on his lead lap after lap. The Copp and Myers war continued, with slide jobs exchanged. Myers shook free with about three to go for second.

There was no catching Stuart, as he set sail to the checkered flag. Myers, Copp, Jensen and Alex Myers were top-five finishers.

Jody Bellefeuille (Tom Krob Photo)

The WISSOTA Modifieds were up next for their 15-lap feature, with Bellefeuille the early leader. Brandon Copp, Nick Oreskovich, Shane Sabraski and Bob Broking rounded out the early top five. A spin brought out the yellow.

Back under green with 13 to go, Bellefeuille set pace out front, as Copp fought to hold off Sabraski for second. Sabraski grabbed the position in the next turn, as Oreskovich and Broking continued to fight over fourth.

Bellefeuille continued to build his lead over the next couple laps, before another caution for a spun racer regrouped the field.

With the green in the air, Bellefeuille danced out to a nice advantage, as Sabraski held second and Broking threw it into turns three and four and slid up in front of Copp for third, but could not gain the position. He did it again in turn one, and again Copp continued to hold third. The next go-round, Broking used the same move going into turns one and two and did not clear Copp and Copp stalled along the backstretch; the caution came back out and Broking was sent to the back. Another caution on the restart for Tanner Gehl kept the field at idle.

Bellefeuille used the cushion to jet back out to a healthy advantage under green with six to go. Sabraski edged away from Copp, who was under fire from Oreskovich and Kennedy Swan.

For the first time in 2025, Bellefeuille took the victory. Sabraski, Copp, Oreskovich and Broking were top-five finishers.

Kevin Burdick (Tom Krob Photo)

Burdick was the early leader in the WISSOTA Late Models, as Darin Meierotto took second. Todd Gehl was third, just ahead of Tim McMann in fourth before a turn-two dustup brought out the yellow.

When the field took the green once again, Burdick took charge. Meierotto slipped off the banking of the backstretch, making it four and three wide into turns three and four, and five wide as they headed to the start/finish line along the frontstretch. Another caution for Chris Lillo halted the intense action.

Burdick was the leader back under green, as Devin Fouquette and Gehl raced side by side for second before Gehl was off the pace and the yellow came back out over the field. Another caution on the restart kept things under yellow.

The restart was led by Burdick, ahead of Fouquette, and Meierotto.

With 14 laps left on the board, Burdick began to encounter lapped traffic. He got by easily and stepped out to a healthy margin, before another caution for a spun competitor off turns one and two regrouped the field.

Burdick was back out front when the race resumed, as Meierotto slid his way across a three-wide battle for top-five spots for second. Peterlin did the same a turn later for third, as Jeff Massingill was fourth and Jayme Lautigar was fifth.

With seven to go, Burdick had a healthy lead but lapped traffic was just ahead in his line. He smoothly drove by and left Meierotto to handle the backmarker. Burdick kept the rest of the field in the rearview during the remaining laps and picked up the victory. Meierotto, Peterlin, Broking and Sabraski rounded out the top five.

Brady Fosso was the early leader in the WISSOTA Hornet feature, followed by Russell Kiker, Jr. in second. Farther back Gotelaere was on the move, working his way from ninth into the top five with just a couple laps completed. As they made it three wide for third, Gotelaere was spun in turns one and two, and the call went against Nathan Penney.

Gotelaere took second behind Fosso on the restart, with Kiker close behind. Using a crossover move into turns one and two, Gotelaere grabbed the lead with four laps to go. He was able to pull away in the waning laps and he held on for the victory ahead of Fosso, Kiker, Nikota Larson, and Jada Lore.
