Peterson, Bohlman, Atkinson, Ekdahl & Lange lock down Big O wins Saturday on Fireworks Spectacular Night

OGILVIE, MN (July 11) - Tyler Peterson, Adam Bohlman, Landon Atkinson, William Lange, and Jeff Ekdahl left Ogilvie Raceway with the hardware Saturday, as they all made their way to victory lane during Fireworks Spectacular night at the Minnesota oval.

Bohlman was the early leader in the WISSOTA Midwest Mod feature, with Ariel Mueller in second and Kris Macko in third. With four laps completed, it was a three-way battle among Tate Kostreba, Taylor Willms and Michael Shalley for fourth. A caution fell with eight laps complete for a spun racer in-between turns three and four. Another caution for a Joey Wagamon, Mueller and Nick Montanez get-together regrouped the field.

Bohlman led the field back to the green, as Mueller held second ahead of Shalley, who took third past a heavily smoking Macko, who then slowed with a flat tire.

With 11 laps to go the field was back under green; Bohlman continued to lead, as 15th-starter Landyn Randt scooted past Shalley and then Mueller into second; Shalley and Chance Kodet were side by side for third, with Shalley holding the slim advantage ahead of Kodet. Kostreba was fifth.

Randt tried to track down Bohlman in the remaining laps, and had one last chance following a caution for Jacob Toepper. Randt came up short however, and Bohlman drove off to slightly more than a half-second advantage at the checkered flag. Shalley, Kostreba, and 27th-starter Andy Miskowic rounded out the top five.

Jeff Ekdahl (Michael Wadsen Photo)

Braedyn Fleck was the early leader in the WISSOTA Street Stocks from the pole. Ekdahl began to pressure Fleck for first with four laps complete, with Levi Randt in third, Lucas Boyce in fourth and Charlie Shiek in fifth.

Fleck and Ekdahl were side by side the following lap, before Ekdahl drove into the lead the next time by.

As the laps wound down the field spaced out single file and Ekdahl drove on unchallenged to victory lane. Fleck, Randt, Boyce and Shiek were the remaining top-five finishers.

Landon Atkinson (Michael Wadsen Photo)

Tyler Kaeter was the early leader in the WISSOTA Modified feature, as Zach Benson held second ahead of Ryan Gierke, Landon Atkinson and Eric Lamm in the top five. Atkinson displaced Gierke to fourth one lap later.

Atkinson moved to the inside of Benson with five laps scored, as both Benson and Atkinson caught Kaeter; Benson took over out front briefly before Kaeter slid Benson and regained the top spot. Atkinson regrouped in fourth, with Jody Bellefeuille taking fifth from Lamm.

Kaeter began to stretch his lead a bit as Benson then came under heavy pressure from Atkinson, who slid him for second down the backstretch with nine laps to go. Disaster struck for Kaeter in turns three and four, when he spun in front of the field and collected Atkinson.

Back under green Benson drove away from Atkinson initially, while Bellefeuille was close behind in third with just six laps to go. Lamm was fourth and Gierke fifth before another caution for Benson’s air cleaner rolling across the track regrouped the field and Benson retired for the night.

Atkinson inherited the lead for the restart. Under green, Bellefeuille moved into second ahead of Clayton Wagamon in third, Lamm fourth and Gierke in fifth. Gierke then slid Lamm for fourth and got it.

Atkinson’s lead was more than 2 seconds with two laps to go and he continued on to the checkered flag ahead of Bellefeuille, Wagamon, Gierke and Lamm in the top five.

Will Lange (Michael Wadsen Photo)

In the WISSOTA Hornets, Christian Kast and William Lange went back and forth for the lead at the start of the feature. Lange moved out with the early lead ahead of Kast, Nathan Penney, Randy Jacoboski and Adam Throener in the top five.

With five laps complete Kast was challenging Lange hard for the lead once again, trading the top spot as they continued to race side by side. Two laps later Lange pulled away again to a slight advantage, and remained in charge to the checkered flag. Kast, Penney, Jacoboski and Throener completed the top five.

Tyler Peterson (Michael Wadsen Photo)

The WISSOTA Late Models were up next, with Sam Mars and Tyler Peterson on the front row. Mars was the initial leader ahead of Peterson and Jeremy Nelson, who were in a fight for second. Harry Hanson was fourth, and James Trantina was fifth.

Peterson went up to the top shelf and made the pass for the lead along the inside of Mars with just a few laps complete. Mars tried to regain the lead, but had to settle back into second ahead of Nelson. Hanson was still fourth, with Jack Koranda then cracking the top five.

A caution for debris regrouped the field. Another caution on the restart attempt kept the field slowed.

Peterson regained the advantage at the green, as Hanson drove into second, nearly three wide with Nelson and Mars. They were three wide into turns three and four when Mars and Hanson made contact along the low side; Mars was sent to the back.

Peterson escaped with a healthy lead initially on the ensuing restart, as Hanson and Nelson diced for second. Nelson drove away from Hanson, and then began to pressure Peterson out front. Farther back Kevin Burdick was fourth and Shane Sabraski was fifth.

With six to go Hanson moved into second, with Burdick heavily pressuring Nelson for third. The next time by, Burdick took the spot before Nelson regrouped and regained the spot with four to go; Nelson and Burdick made contact and both spun in-between turn three and four. Both drivers were given their spots back.

Peterson remained strong out front in the remaining laps, with Hanson keeping second from Nelson and Devin Fouquette. Burdick was fifth.
