Peterson puts up a two-class sweep, Berg goes back-to-back, and Greseth gets sixth win in seven tries at River Cities

GRAND FORKS, ND (July 10) - Midseason track championship night Friday at River Cities Speedway was highlighted by a trio of returning winners to victory lane. Cole Greseth improved to six for seven in the WISSOTA Street Stock division, Jory Berg went back-to-back in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, and Tyler Peterson swept both the WISSOTA Modified and Late Model divisions for the second time in 2026.
Shane Edginton and Brody Troftgruben were the front row starters in the WISSOTA Late Model feature, as the cars were without their roofs for the first time since 2005. Troftgruben led the opening lap ahead of Edginton before Edginton, running a spare Corbett racing team entry, got loose in turn one on the second lap and lost seven spots. Dustin Strand and Brad Seng capitalized to race into the top three.

Strand held off Seng following a pair of restarts on the fifth and sixth laps, while the best battle on the track was between Tyler Peterson and Jason Strand for fourth. Dustin Strand started to make his move with eight to go, pulling to the inside of Troftgruben on a number of occasions, but was unable to take the top spot as the pair approached lap traffic.
Troftgruben used the first lapped car as a pick to open up some distance between himself and Strand, as Peterson took third from Seng. Peterson lit the wick with five to go, moving past Strand at the bottom of turn one with three to go and doing the same to Troftgruben the following lap to take the lead.
Peterson led the final two laps to collect the win over Troftgruben, Dustin Strand, Brad Seng, and Jason Strand.
Greenbush Race Park regulars Dustin Wahl and Aaron Holtan made up the front row in the third WISSOTA Modified feature of the season at the Bullring. Holtan led the first lap as Jordan Duray made it an all-Greenbush top three early. Tyler Peterson began to work his way through the field, moving past Ryan Johnson for fourth then Duray for third shortly after.
Peterson was the big winner on the lap five restart, moving from fourth to first and bringing Ward Imrie with him into second, as they became the new lead duo at the front of the field. Holtan and Wahl kept it close initially, going three-wide with Imrie at the beginning of the eighth lap. Meanwhile, Peterson began to pull away.
Peterson led by 1.5 seconds just past the midway point as he began to work lapped traffic, but continued to build his advantage through the five-to-go mark, with a 2-second advantage over Imrie.
Wahl's night eventually came to an end before a caution with five to go, ending a possible podium run. One final caution with two to go set up a green-white-checkered restart, but Peterson continued to be the class of the field, leading the final pair of laps to pick up the victory over Imrie, Holtan, Duray, and Rick Delaine.
Jory Berg (Steven Young Photo)
Austin Hunter and Jory Berg brought the field to green in the WISSOTA Midwest Mod main event. Berg roared around the outside of Hunter coming off of turn four on the opening lap to pick up the initial lead while Cylen Vargason and Kenna Breidenbach battled for the final podium spot. That pair remained door to door as Berg and Hunter pulled away from the rest of the field.
Berg continued to lead following a slow down on the fourth lap, which allowed Vargason to go door to door with Hunter for second. A pair of cautions just before the midway mark allowed 10th-starter Alex Johnson to throw his hat in the ring for a podium spot, moving past Vargason with 11 to go into third.
Berg set sail following the final caution with seven to go and won by nearly a second ahead of Hunter, Johnson, Vargason, and Frank Veert.
John Halvorson and Greg Jose led the field to green in the 20-lap WISSOTA Street Stock feature. Jose got the run off the top of the high side in turn two to lead the opening lap. With just one lap in the books, Cole Greseth had already made his way from the back of the field into the top five.
Jose restarted the race as the leader following the first caution, but hit a tractor tire as the race resumed and spun out, sending him to the rear of the field. Greseth went three-wide with Blaine Barnes and Trey Hess as the top four were under a blanket following the caution for Jose.
Cole Greseth (Steven Young Photo)
Greseth made his way up to second and started working on Halvorson for the lead, though he still had Hess to his outside in what became a three-car battle for the top spot. The top three were three wide coming off of turn two on the fifth lap, with Hess going from third to first to lead his first lap of the season in the Hulst racing entry.
Greseth continued to feather the throttle perfectly on the bottom side of the race track, and he eventually took the lead for good on the eighth lap. Halvorson and Hess remained door-to-door past the midway point in what became the best battle on the race track for second. Greseth pulled away late and went on to win his 18th feature of the season ahead of Halvorson, Hess, Barnes and Jose, who recovered for a top five.
Andy Pake won the Sprints’ feature.
