Chernosky, Davis, Randt & Owen take their best shots to win Thunder City’s Whiskey Row Classic

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (July 8) - Thunder City Speedway hosted its Whiskey Row Classic Wednesday, July 8. WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners at the Thunder Bay-area oval included Cole Chernosky, Jamie Davis, Levi Randt, and Selena Owen.

In the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Davis started inside the second row and held second for much of the race. With a handful of laps to go he got past race leader Michael Shalley to garner the victory. Tanner Ulakovic displaced Shalley back another spot for second in the late stages of the race, while ninth-starter Kolby Reed was close behind Shalley at the start-finish line in fourth. Hunter Brink completed the top five.

Chernosky took the lead just a couple laps into the WISSOTA Super Stock feature and had a 1.669 advantage at the finish ahead of Rick Simpson in second. Danny Young was third, Nathan Roy was fourth and Larry Both finished in fifth.

Selena Owen (Tom Krob Photo)

Owen took the lead on lap two from her front-row starting spot and held strong out front to grab the checkered flag in the WISSOTA Hornets. Jesse Owen, Sam Bolt, Hunter Marshall and Curtis Oleksuk were the remaining top-five finishers.

Chernosky showed absolute dominance in his flag-to-flag victory in the WISSOTA Modifieds, where his winning margin was nearly 8 seconds ahead of David Simpson at the checkered flag. Colin Chaschuk, Curtis Stieh and Riley Matthews rounded out the top five.

Levi Randt (Tom Krob Photo)

After falling back into third and fourth at the start of the WISSOTA Street Stock feature, a high-side racing Randt found his way to victory lane with a charge into the top spot following a caution with about 10 to go. He expanded his advantage over the remaining laps to take the victory by 2.591 seconds ahead of A.J. Kellar, who picked his way forward from 18th to second at the finish. Brendan Makkinga, 16th-starter Darren Wolframe and 12th-starter Parker Anderson completed the top five.

In the track’s Junior Slingshot feature, Taylor Riabov came out on top.
