On Outlaws night at River Cities Speedway, Hunter and Greseth get the WISSOTA wins
By Tony Steuck
GRAND FORKS, ND (June 27) - Cole Greseth and Austin Hunter split the WISSOTA Dirt Track Series victories at River Cities Speedway on Friday night. Nick Hoffman was the winner in the World of Outlaw Late Model action.
Chris Dudley grabbed the lead when the 20-lap WISSOTA Street Stock main event took the green flag. He used the high groove to pace the opening two circuits before Trey Hess made an inside four-wide pass, which propelled him from fourth to first in turn one on lap three. Hess edged away while sixth-starter Greseth moved forward and secured second on lap five.
Greseth tracked down Hess and made an outside move for the lead on lap 10. From there he slipped away, and despite a late-race caution, Greseth captured his fourth feature win of the season in Grand Forks. Hess was second ahead of ninth-starter Greg Jose, John Halvorson and Jordan Johnson.

Hunter battled with Jamie Dietzler at the beginning of the 20-lap WISSOTA Midwest Modified main event. Hunter settled into the lead early, while Frank Veert challenged Dietzler for second. Hunter could not open a large lead through several cautions in the opening half of the race; Dietzler and Veert remained close to the leader, while 12th-starter Luke Johnson advanced to fourth by the halfway mark.
The final eight laps ran without a caution flag. Hunter inched away little by little, and the battle for second continued to the checkers. Veert slipped by Dietzler for the position on lap 15, but Dietzler returned the favor after a Veert miscue with less than three laps to go. Johnson finished fourth and Jory Berg rounded out the top five.
Hoffman stole the lead from Ashton Winger after a restart with 13 laps left in the Late Model race; he gained speed off the high side of two, crossed over down the back chute, and snatched the lead from Winger into turn three. Dennis Erb, Jr. claimed second in the late going ahead of Winger, 12th-starter Drake Troutman and Brian Shirley.
