Wranek and Bogh break free for WISSOTA wins Friday night at Brown County Speedway

By Spencer Heupel

ABERDEEN, SD (June 5) - Racing action returned to Brown County Speedway with the first special of the 2026 season. The Tri-State Late Models invaded for a $3,000-to-win show, supported by the WISSOTA Midwest Mods and Street Stocks. The pits were packed with 101 drivers on hand.

In WISSOTA-sanctioned action, Jayden Bogh and Jake Wranek were the winners of their respective WISSOTA classes, while Preston Martin and Cole Searing picked up the wins in their divisions.

The first feature of the night was the WISSOTA Street Stocks, with 21 drivers setting pace through the field. Last week’s winner Cory Moser along with Jodie Michaelsohn were the front row starters and Michaelsohn grabbed the lead on the opening lap. It was short-lived as caution struck on lap two.

Michaelsohn pulled ahead following the lone caution in the race, while drivers in second through seventh place raced closely for position.

Michaelsohn looked to have won the race until the final lap once again. On the last lap, Michaelsohn got into lapped traffic, which was running his line so it allowed Adam Dehne and Jayden Bogh to close in. As they came out of the final turn, Bogh shot to the top of the track and drove from third to first to snag the win from Michaelsohn by .063 seconds at the line. The win was Bogh’s first at BCS this year and his second of the season.

The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were up next, and the field of 24 was led to green by Dawson Zabel and Jarod Klein. Zabel grabbed the lead before the field’s pace was stopped on lap two for the first caution.

On the restart, the race got intense as Klein grabbed the lead from Zabel. Zabel did not go away and continued to battle Klein for the top spot. Coming out of turn four a few laps later, it was a three-wide battle among Kyle Anderson, Klein and Zabel for the lead, with Zabel regaining the lead back at that point.

The caution flag struck again with only 11 laps left. As the field took green, 21st-starter Brennon Weight drove into third and began battling for the lead. The battle was getting good and then Weight’s air cleaner popped off and he continued.

As Weight was on Zabel’s bumper up top, Jake Wranek rolled the bottom and worked past both of them to tag the lead with only eight laps left.

The final caution struck with seven laps to go, under caution Weight retired for the night with no air cleaner, and 16th-starter Todd Stark, who was running in fourth, also retired.

Wranek pulled ahead after the restart, as Anderson took second from Zabel; Zabel then retired a few laps later. The race was between Wranek and Anderson, and Wranek hit his marks and went on to score the win. The win was Wranek’s first of the year at BCS and third overall. Anderson, Taylor Schmidt, Nick Perry and Tommy Nichols were the top five. Ryan Ost was hard charger, advancing 16 spots for a sixth-place finish.

Preston Martin came from ninth to score the win using a late-race pass in the INEX Legends, and the Tri-State Late Model Series feature was won with a late pass by Cole Searing.
