Breidenbach and Thomas top the Mod classes while Edginton and Greseth grind out more at River Cities
By Steven Young
GRAND FORKS, ND (June 5) - River Cities Speedway roared into the month of June with two drivers remaining dominant in the WISSOTA Late Model and Street Stock divisions, as Shane Edginton and Cole Greseth scored their third feature wins of the 2026 campaign. Kenna Breidenbach continued to re-write the history books, winning her second career main event at the speedway in the WISSOTA Midwest Mods, and Joseph Thomas returned to victory lane at the Bullring in the first WISSOTA Modified main event of the season.
Amelia Eisenschenk and Edginton made up the front row at the start of the 25-lap NLRA WISSOTA Late Model main event. It took Edginton just six laps to catch up to the rear of the 26-car main event and he was beginning to work on the first lapped car when the caution came out. The first restart of the race was erased by another pair of cautions. Eisenschenk changed her line on the final restart attempt of that lap, running the low side to remain second and brought Travis Robertson with her into third, as Dustin Strand jumped the cushion in turns three and four.

Edginton was ahead by two seconds on his second approach to the rear of the field before another caution saved him from lapped traffic on the ninth circuit. Robertson took second as the green was redisplayed and brought Strand into third as Eisenschenk bobbled on a rut in turn two.
Edginton reached the rear of the field once again with 11 to go and began his first tour through lapped traffic, putting three lapped cars between himself and the second running Robertson before the final caution with five laps left. A pileup caused a brief delay before the final restart during which Strand moved into second.
Edginton continued on to victory by 1 second ahead of Strand. Cole Schill moved into the top three on the final restart to complete the podium. Robertson fell to fourth, with Eisenschenk completing the top five.
Joseph Thomas (Steven Young Photo)
It was an all-Greenbush area front row at the beginning of the first WISSOTA Modified feature at the speedway in 2026 as Dustin Wahl and Aaron Holtan brought the field to green. Wahl and Holtan remained first and second in the first five laps of the race as Bryce Sward moved in on Joseph Thomas for a side-by-side battle for the third spot.
Sward and Thomas had reeled in Holtan in lapped traffic to put the second through fourth place runners nose-to-tail before the first caution with nine laps remaining. Thomas got the best of the ensuing restart as he moved into the second spot past Holtan with Sward eventually taking third a pair of laps later.
Wahl continued to pace the field with five fingers showing from the flag stand as the last quarter of the race began. Thomas held off Sward in turns three and four for second as Wahl took the white flag. Wahl bobbled as he moved off of the bottom to run the top of turns one and two on the final circuit, allowing Thomas and Sward to go by. Thomas led the remainder of the final lap to pick up his fourth victory in the division at the track. Sward, Wahl, Holtan and Jordan Duray completed the top five.

Taylor Jacobson and Kenna Breidenbach made up the front row in the WISSOTA Midwest Mod main event. Jacobson got loose in turn two and ran through the infield on the opening lap, but remained in second holding off Austin Hunter as Breidenbach set the pace out front.
A debris caution on lap five was the first of many slow downs in the 20-lap race. Breidenbach had pulled out to her biggest advantage by .8 seconds on the eighth lap until she got loose in between turns one and two. Breidenbach gathered it back in to keep Jacobson from taking the top spot.
Jacobson had cut Breidenbach’s biggest lead of the race in half, trailing by .4 of a second before another caution with seven to go reset the field. Jacobson pulled even with Breidenbach on the ensuing restart, but the leader remained strong out front using the middle of turns three and four to keep the lead.
Austin Hunter made it a three-car battle for the top spot before the final caution with four to go, when a three-car pile up briefly brought the race to a stop. Hunter and Jacobson swapped second in the final four laps, which gave Breidenbach all she needed to pull away for her second career win at the speedway. Jacobson finished second with Hunter third. Fifteenth-starter Jory Berg finished fourth with Brennan Schmidt completing the top five.
Cole Greseth (Steven Young Photo)
Greg Jose and Waylon Poitra brought the 20-lap WISSOTA Street Stock feature to green. Chris Dudley moved to the second spot on the opening lap and brought Cole Greseth with him into third as Jose led the opening lap.
Greseth moved to the high side of the track and went side-by-side with Dudley for three laps before taking second on lap five and continued on to go door-to-door with Jose on the following circuit; Greseth took the lead coming off of turn four to lead the sixth lap.
Greseth paced the field as the race continued following a caution on the seventh lap. Jose and Dudley battled for the second spot as Greseth began to build a 10-car length advantage. The top three became evenly spaced at the front of the field before a trio of cautions slowed the race before a green-white-checkered finish.
Dudley capitalized on the final restart, taking second from Jose as Greseth went on to remain undefeated in 2026 at the speedway by 1.5 seconds. Doug VanMill and John Halvorson completed the top five.
