HURON, SD (June 6) - After a hard-fought battle with Dylan Arndt, Chris Serr emerged with the 23rd win of his career at Dakota State Fair Speedway Saturday, taking the victory in the WISSOTA Street Stock class at the Huron track. His last victory came on Aug. 21, 2021.
In the track’s other WISSOTA-sanctioned action, Matt Heinzerling won in the Midwest Modified class.
Arndt led the first 12 laps of the 15-lap Street Stock feature race, but lost the top spot after he was bumped by Serr.
“I didn’t use the front bumper to move him intentional,” Serr said. “He was checking up in different spots and I just misjudged it.
“I kept getting pressure from side to side and I did what I had to do,” he said.
Joe Arndt, who had a front-row seat for the battle between the top two cars, moved to second with four laps to go and stayed there.
Michael Bogh was third, followed by Grady Myers and Dylan Arndt in the top five.

Matt Heinzerling led from start to finish in the 15-lap WISSOTA Midwest Modified main event to earn his 21st win at DSFS. It was his first victory here since July 4, 2022.
“We got shocks and we got it dialed in, I think,” Heinzerling said.
Scott Hansen started second and finished in that spot, while Dawson Zabel was third. Jake Wranek and Jayme Peterson completed the top five.
Justin Zeitner took a page out of Chad Becker’s playbook and turned it into the second victory of his career during the Tri-State Late Model Dash on Saturday.
Zeitner led the final 24 laps of the 30-lap feature race to secure the victory and the $4,000 payday that came with it. His other win at the Huron track came June 2, 2022.
Becker, of Aberdeen, has won three of the previous seven Tri-State Late Model Series events at DSFS. His knowledge of the track and set up for the car was instrumental for Zeitner in claiming his thrid win of the 2026 season with the Tri-State Late Model Series.
“I’ll tell you a story about me making it look easy,” Zeitner said in a post-race interview during the trophy presentation. “There’s a car that everybody knows here, the 12 car of Becker. Our car was note for note off that car from last year.
“I hate it for Chad, he had a bad draw tonight. It was a total team effort and I can’t thank the whole Becker clan enough for everything they do,’ he said. “He doesn’t have to share those notes with me and both of us are pretty tight-lipped people.”
Zeitner started on the inside of the second row and was able to capitalize on restart after the first caution of the race, which came just four laps in. Jake Neal started on the outside of the front row and led the first four revolutions.
Neal took command again for two laps after the restart, but on lap seven, Zeitner used the high side of the track in turn two to make his way to the front.
Zeitner led the final 24 laps, but it wasn’t without some serious pressure from Neal.
“I have a lot of respect for Jake, I’ve been racing with him for a while,” Zeitner said. “We never touched, it’s always great to race against him. He’s just one of those guys you know can get on the wheel and get it done.”
Neal held on for second on Saturday. Cody Overton, who was piloting the No. 37 machine of Scott Ward, was third, followed by Skorczewski, who held third until a caution period with five laps remaining.
Searing was fifth; he suffered a flat tire during the caution period on lap four but was able to rejoin the field and was able to make his way to the front.
