Bellefeuille, Kostreba, Penney and Randt brothers pick up the check on Date Night at The Big O

By Tami Jo Kuehn

OGILVIE, MN (June 6) - Saturday night was Date Night at Wagamon’s Ogilvie Raceway and along with the free giveaways, the Crown Vics were on the agenda.

WISSOTA Dirt Track Series action was sponsored by Thomas Sno Sports, and winners in sanctioned action included Jody Bellefeuille, Ryan Kostreba, Nathan Penny and brothers Landyn and Levi Randt.

The WISSOTA Super Stocks kicked off the night’s features with Ryan Kostreba in the early lead. Karter Reents grabbed second and Tommy Bawden took third, before back-to-back cautions slowed the field.

When the race resumed, Kostreba led the charge. Bawden kept close to Reents for second and began to pressure him for the spot. Bawden and Reents traded the runner-up position back and forth, as Dylan Kromschroeder moved in. Kromschroeder raced to Bawden’s door and took third. Kostreba stretched his lead to more than 2 seconds and took his No. 17 to victory lane. Reents finished second with Kromschroeder, Bawden and Andrew Hedtke as the top five racers.

Landyn Randt (Mark Anderson Photo)

Chance Kodet and Landyn Randt thrilled the crowd in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, with slide jobs for the top spot during the opening lap. Randt secured the lead after the opening laps with Jake Hagemann and Tate Kostreba in top positions. After a caution reset the field, Jake Smith moved into second and put pressure on Randt. Smith chased after Randt as laps passed by, and with two laps to go, a caution was triggered.

Randt brought the racers to green, and as they went into the turn Randt, Smith and Kostreba were three-wide for first. Randt held the point, but Smith applied the pressure and did not let up. Randt held on to the lead and took the win ahead of Smith, Kostreba, Nick Montanez and Jake Hagemann in the top five.

Nathan Penney (Michael Wadsen Photo)

Christian Kast was the early leader in the WISSOTA Hornets, with Randy Jacoboski and Nathan Penney door to door for second. The top five racers kept close with Kast maintaining a slight lead over the pack. Penney moved to Kast’s door and then Jacoboski joined to make it three wide out of turn four. Penney emerged as the leader as the top drivers came upon a backmarker. The first of a few cautions occurred, with the final caution triggered on the last lap.

Penney brought the drivers back to green the final time and held the lead to take the win. William Lange finished second and Paxton Tjaden, Skylar Burgher and Matthew Moes rounded out the top five.

Jody Bellefeuille (Mark Anderson Photo)

As quick as Landon Atkinson shot away with the lead, his night came to an unfortunate end in the WISSOTA Modifieds as he suffered a mechanical issue and pulled to the infield. Jody Bellefeuille assumed the lead with Travis Schulte and Jeremy Nelson behind. Nelson and Schulte battled side by side for second before Dustin Bitzan passed them both for the spot. Bellefeuille established a good lead as the halfway flags were displayed, while Nelson and Schulte kept close for third and remained door to door in the turns behind Bitzan in second.

Bellefeuille had a lead of more than 2 seconds and took the feature win. Bitzan, Nelson, Cole Boston and Schulte completed the top five.

Levi Randt (Michael Wadsen Photo)

The WISSOTA Street Stocks were led to green by Levi Randt and Tommy Pogones on row one. Randt, Pogones and Ekdahl held the first three spots when the green dropped, with Pogones pressuring Randt. Randt and Pogones battled for the lead and Pogones snuck by. Ekdahl moved alongside Randt and as they battled, Ekdahl went around in turn four. The yellow waved and cars were sorted with Braedyn Fleck moving into third.

Pogones brought the drivers back to green as Randt used every inch he could to regain the top spot. Randt moved ahead with a couple laps to go, and as the checkered flag was raised, Pogones gave one final push. Randt held his line and took the win, as Pogones settled in second ahead of Braedyn Fleck, Lucas Boyce and Jeff Ekdahl in the top five.

Daryl Harth and Wayne Nelson battled for first when the green waved for the Crown Vics, with Harth the early leader. Following a restart, Nelson shot by Harth into the lead and took the win. Marcus Ammerman took second, with Harth, Jeff Hass and Joe Strandlien in the top five.
