Chaplin scores first career Street Stock win while Mahder, Blaeser, Redetzke & Jensen add to Red Cedar totals
MENOMONIE, WI (June 26) - Second-year driver Layla Chaplin broke through for her first career Street Stock victory on Friday at Red Cedar Speedway.
Joining Chaplin as WISSOTA Dirt Track Series winners were Chad Mahder, Kaden Blaeser, Jesse Redetzke and Brandon Jensen.
Chaplin led every lap from the pole for her milestone victory in the WISSOTA Street Stocks. Cole Richards spent most of the race in second, and finished about three-quarters of a second behind the winner. Kammron Rose was third ahead of Charlie Pitcavage, and Alaina Chaplin.
Mahder led the last half of the WISSOTA Late Model feature for his second victory of the season, after many great laps of side-by-side and nearly three-wide among the top four. He took the lead from John Kaanta near the crossed flags and raced away to the win by more than 2 seconds ahead of Jesse Glenz in second. Ashley Anderson was third ahead of Kaanta and James Giossi.
Blaeser continued his stranglehold of the WISSOTA Modifieds at the speedway with his fifth victory in six races thus far. He started fourth on the grid and quickly made his way to the lead, but had to deal with constant pressure from Blake Adams to secure the win. Shane Halopka, Jr. was third with Mike Anderson fourth and Matt Leer fifth.
Redetzke had a dominant run to his fourth WISSOTA Super Stock feature win of the season at the oval. He took the checkers nearly 3 seconds ahead of Ron Mahder, Avery Anderson, Alex Myers and Leslie Leu in the top five.
Jensen led every lap of the WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature for his second win of the season in Menomonie. Nick Koehler used a slide job to get past Blake Adams for second following a restart with just a few laps to go, but appeared to break during the final lap and slowed, handing second back to Adams at the finish line. David Baxter and 11th-starter Brady Larson rounded out the top five.
Josh Wahlstrom was victorious in the USRA Late Model class.
